Result of Service

  • The Senior Technical Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the Brazilian Ministry of Environment in the overall coordination of the preparation and delivery of the Brazil Plano Clima
  • Mitigation, comprising the National Mitigation Strategy and t seven Sectoral Mitigation Plans (Energy, Transport, Agriculture, Land Use Change, Cities, Industry and Waste), with an integrated air quality and climate change mitigation approach. In the first stage, she/he will support the government in reviewing the National Mitigation Strategy, which will include the tools and procedures for carbon budget calculation and allocation across the 7 sectors, and to be presented to CIM in the second quarter of 2024. In a second phase, she/he will be coordinate and supervise the work of specialists (to be hired) who will prepare the 7 sectorial mitigation plans with definition of specific measures for effectively implementing the sectoral carbon budgets and inform longterm planning towards the achievement of the Brazilian NDC and carbon neutrality target over the mediumterm. The work also consists of articulating and consulting with various sectoral ministers and stakeholders (public, private, and civil society actors) and participating and making presentations in meetings/events. As a result of the elaboration of Brazilian National Climate Plan, it is also expected that the Brazilian actors (from different Ministries, but also municipalities, civil society, academia and private sector) will have their technical capacity increased so that the knowledge products generated (tools, methods, and procedures) are integrated into Brazil's policies and procedures, supporting the future tracking and updating of the country's NDC beyond 2030 targets.
