pecialist in Numerical Climate Models M/F with the aim of studying impact of climate change on TotalEnergies assets (in particular for renewables), their integrity and profitability.

  • The position is located in Saclay (France, 91)
  • The main responsibilities will be as follows:
  • Ensure a technology watch of climate change numerical models developed by research institutes at different scales (local, regional, worldwide) in order to determine which of them are the most suitable as a function of our problem types.
  • Build a relationship with our internal stakeholders to gather operational needs in terms of longterm climate forecasts (production forecast, industrial plants sizing and integrity, electrical grid stability.)
  • Build an R&D roadmap for climate forecast exhibiting additional R&D required actions compared to existing ones.
  • Build R&D partnerships with research institutes on climate forecasts topics that are not already covered by (internal or external) R&D Programs
  • Consolidate internal knowhow and build community with collaborators working on longterm climate forecast, in relation with the ones working on meteorological forecast.
  • Monitor ecosystem of companies providing forecasting services
  • Advise of purchase and access type of proprietary data, licensed of public via MeteoHub in collaboration with the other branches of the Company
  • PHD or research engineer with at least 5 years of experience in numerical climate modeling domain
  • Knowledge of digital modeling, but also of physical climate drivers is expected, at least for the atmospheric part
  • An experience in internationally recognized laboratories actively participating in climate studies will be a strong advantage
  • Fluent English mandatory
