We have an exciting opportunity in our office in Mauritius for a Head Of HR Africa who speak fluent English and Portuguese.

You will provide overall HR leadership for the region, both in terms of providing clear strategic direction for the function and in terms of ongoing operational support and guidance.


Key responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and successfully deploy a HR strategic plan for the region, which sets out the people/organizational capabilities required, and identifies how these capabilities will be delivered.
  • Act as a member of the AFRICA Regional Executive Committee (Exco) management team and partner with the heads of the other functions in achieving business objectives and addressing organizational issues.
  • Implement Corporate Rewards initiatives and review local compensation and benefit plans to ensure competitiveness and effectiveness in motivating and retaining high performers. Manages the payroll function to ensure that all staff are paid accurately and promptly.
  • Deploy a performance management process that is aligned to Group HR directions and which ensures, on an ongoing basis, that staff set clear and relevant annual objectives, receive accurate performance reviews, and have meaningful development plans.
  • Collaborate closely with Corporate and Regional L&D to evaluate the training needs of the organization and implement training programs accordingly

Important information

  • Travel up to 40% of the time required all sites, offices and locations throughout AFRICA.
  • International travel to other locations as required at conferences and meetings.

About you:


  • Relevant HR experiences in recruitment, development, retention and management
  • Fluency in verbal and written English and Portuguese.
  • Leadership and people management skills.
  • Experience of working in a complex multicultural matrix organization.
  • Comfortable in a dynamic, high pressured, fast changing, complex, unstructured and flat environment and hierarchy
  • International exposure and experience of working and living overseas would be an advantage.
