Purpose:
Legal and regulatory advice and support:
- Reviewing and negotiating all AMFR legal arrangements within the Asset Management Legal Team
- Providing legal advice and support, in particular, in Sustainable Finance, to AMFR internal teams on the area of expertise in particular to sales teams, investment teams, operations
Principal Accountabilities:
- Partnering with the Sustainable Finance Global Asset Management teams and with the Legal Teams to identify, review, coordinate interpretations of legislative/ regulatory changes and arrangements in relation to Sustainable Finance. Informing timely and effectively senior Business and Risk stakeholders on this area of expertise
- Liaising and coordinating with internal and outside counsels, any kind of legal negotiation or review of documentation or arrangements to support:
- the distribution of HGAM Funds and expertise to the main EU platforms and through European Clients
Institutional Cross Border Clients:
Mainly for Asian and European clients
- the Sustainable Finance developments
- Partnering with relevant Asset Management teams to setup the contracts and execute the partnership agreements, interacting daily with the sales teams, investment managers, risk teams and operations
- Providing legal support and guidance with regards to legal risks arising in the area of expertise and in particular on Sustainable Finance
Operational Effectiveness & Control:
- Maintain HSBC Internal Control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
- Assist with the management of legal risk in business departments for which you are responsible, to ensure that the interests of the HSBC Group are adequately protected
Customers / Stakeholders:
- Be proactive in the provision of legal support and in advising the business promptly of material legal developments and their implications
- Ensure senior legal management is fully briefed on major issues arising in relevant business area and major legislative changes in area of expertise
Leadership & Teamwork:
- Maintain and develop positive and professional working relationships with all team members within the Legal function and business departments
- Share legal knowledge and best practices with legal colleagues
- Regular reports to and meetings held with direct reports and team members within the relevant business departments
Experience, Skills and Qualifications:
- Qualified lawyer
- At least 5 to 10 years' practical experience in legal and regulatory related financial matters in a financial institution
- Proven excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, even under pressure;
- Willingness to cover a multiplicity of legal areas.
- Strong sense of initiative and used to work independently
- Quick and analytical/structured thinking, efficient work style and ability to provide pragmatic (clientoriented) solutions
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a structured, precise and succinct way in French and English
Major Challenges:
- Ability to prioritize workloads in terms of legal risk and commercial consideration
- Ability to adapt workstyle to meet complex and varied workloads
- Maintain knowledge of HSBC Group operations and policies
