Description

The Network Technician will participate in the installation and configuration of diverse communications systems, interpret user needs, and plan and coordinate sub-contracted cabling work.

Another function will be to handle the "Returned Materials Authorization" (RMA) process for the faulty network devices of the Communication Systems (CS) Group.

The Network Technician will manage the end-user requests in an autonomous way.

The Functional Element (FE) Managers will be available for general consultation, they will guide the planning of activities and they will provide expert level support when needed.


  • Participate in the installation and configuration of diverse communications systems (switches, Wi-Fi access points, mobile telephone repeaters etc.) according to the client's standards and procedures;
  • Interpret user cabling requirements and prepare dossiers for the CS group deployment team. This entails site visits and document preparation (photos, drawings, and layout plans);
  • Plan and coordinate subcontracted cabling work, ensuring that operational and safety procedures are respected;
  • Control of IT starpoints and followup of required interventions to maintain their operation. This requires liaison with support lines external to the service, as needed;
  • Attend regular accelerator integration and coordination meetings, notably for the LHC upgrade;
  • Participate in the RMA process (establish fault reports, return faulty equipment to manufacturers, update inventory tools);
  • The service also includes some administrative tasks, such as updating various inhouse databases and using the ticketing system.
  • Bachelor's degree (180 ECTS credits) or Technical Engineer (180 ECTS credits) qualification in the field of computer networks or telecommunications;
  • At least three years of proven experience in a network technician role that includes field activities such as site visits, worksite supervision and accessing radiationcontrolled areas;
  • Have a good knowledge of network and computer operating systems;
  • Have a good knowledge of enterprise software such as HxGN EAM2 (asset management), Geographic Information System (GIS) tools, as well as the Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio);
  • Have the ability to update databases through web portals;
  • Hold a valid H0/B0 electrical certification;
  • Have a strong communication, teamwork, and problemsolving skills;
  • Have a solid serviceoriented approach combined with good analytical skills;
  • Hold a valid driving licence (recognised in both France and Switzerland).
