Job Description Summary:

This controls engineering position in the Offshore Wind Controls team is responsible for leadership in driving customer fulfillment excellence (OTR), working across a global technology team focused on controls scope fulfillment from order inquiry through project execution, commissioning.

The Controls Project Leader (CPL) will support the requisition, design, validation and commissioning of the control systems for wind turbine, wind farm, SCADA and Networks.

This role, in addition to closely collaborating with our internal and external customers, is critical in driving a team culture of technical system, leadership, on-time quality execution and strong customer-focused mindset.


Essential Functions:


The CPL is an engineering reference for new Projects with overall responsibility for portfolio planning, requirements management, design and implementation of controls system projects, covering wind turbines and the wind farm.

When assigned to a project, the CPL will be responsible for technical and schedule risk identification and mitigation across the complete controls scope.

The CPL may be responsible for one or more projects. The overall goal of the CPL role is 'make the project successful'.

In addition, the CPL role includes:

  • Empowered project level decision maker
  • Project ownership from ITO through COD for complex projects as by the project execution team
  • Support ITO/ Proposal efforts
  • Work and Lead in an Agile software methodology
  • Support and influence product requirements definition
  • Lead globally and be accountable for overall Control System Requirements definition and management
  • Drive overall Architecture, top level design, verification, validation and commissioning requirements
  • Coordinate flow down of internal and external customer requirements (i.e. RFI's)
  • Collaborate with the Project Managers to establish Projects Schedule, Risk and opportunity
  • Lead and promote customer discussions/reviews for an improved controls solution and customer experience and expectations
  • Drive consistent solutions across all controls (WTC, WFC, SCADA, Networks)
  • Demonstrate System Level thinking
  • Lead project execution with an inclusive adaptable style able to quickly learn diverse and varying organizational interfaces with professional astuteness and agility
  • Collaborate with and maintain close, responsive, and productive working relationships with internal GE groups as well as with external customers.
  • Be accountable for Controls cost and schedule targets working with functional managers
  • Provide clear communication to the project team, control team and the business leaders

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor degree in Electrical, Mechanical or related Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years working experience in engineering
  • Control Design experience in WTC, WFC, Converters, Operability or Controls
  • Demonstrated ability to meet goals and objectives
  • Proven strong interpersonal and leadership skills

DESIRED:


  • Experience in power generation requisition, working with customers, project mgt. or EPCs
  • 3+ years of controls experience
  • 5+ years of system integration experience
  • 35 years of leadership experience in a matrix structure organization, working crossfunctionally
  • Proven oral and written communication and presentation skills to the team and business leaders
  • Wind turbine controls, Wind Farm controls or SCADA knowledge / experience
  • Demonstrated ability to independently drive projects to completion
  • Demonstrated Technical writing expertise
  • Demonstrated experience in working successfully in technical leadership of a diverse team
