Sales, Hospitality Overview
Hotels are at the forefront in a world where digital and physical experiences are coming together.

Planet is excited about helping hotels help their staff and customers towards frictionless processes and experiences, with payment right in the middle.


Our Sales Hospitality team comprises of 150 employees globally and with the acquisition of Protel PMS, Hoist groups as well as Avantio, we are just getting started to provide a real feel good, connected experience at world's most well-known hotels.


Role Overview

The Business Development Manager is an experienced, knowledgeable, and customer-obsessed professional who will sell and develop programs to deeper relationship with our merchants and create new value propositions that deliver growth.

Your responsibilities are to strengthen relationships and deepen engagement with your managed accounts by creating regular and frequent touchpoints, increasing customer engagement, influencers and known stakeholders inside each merchant's organization.

This will also allow you to define and develop multiple merchant personas within each merchant's organization.

What you will do:


  • Sell new products to prospects.
  • Understand merchants' business needs and define success criteria as relevant to their unique business dynamics.
  • Partner with internal and external teams to enrol merchants in growth initiatives.
  • Break targets and pipeline into doable actions and set timeframes to deliver them.
  • Conduct deepdive analysis on issues affecting the merchant's business performance and establish a periodic business review with the merchant that addresses key business issues.
  • Ensure the Company targets and objectives are the key focus priority.
  • Make sure all Sales activities are clearly reported, documented and shared internally.
  • Scout for new businesses whilst creating and maintaining productive partnerships.
  • Analyze portfolio trends, diagnose the root cause of performance and create actionable plans for operational improvements.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the current and future functionality of Planet to find and execute new opportunities.
  • Deliver marketing engagements with merchants.
  • Report on portfolio status and performance to make portfolio value visible to internal stakeholders.

Who you are:


  • You will have a solid sales background and /or equivalent education degree with demonstrable experience of overachieving targets.
  • Card Payment Background or Expert in the Hospitality industry.
  • Success managing dynamic account portfolios.
  • Good decision making, problemsolving, and negotiating skills.
  • Selfmotivated, team focused and well organized with an outgoing and pleasant personality.
  • History of effectively managing external customers and successfully working with internal teams to build new capability and implement projects assigned tasks.
  • Show independence and flexibility in dealing with multiple complex issues.
  • Willing to travel at a minimum of 50% of its working time.
  • Accomplished range of skill from highlevel strategic thinking to creative and detailed team leadership.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Composed, poised and professional demeanour in all situations.
  • Tenacity to keep issues top of mind of relevant stakeholders and conviction to make the right decisions.
