Job Summary:


The Mechanical Production Engineer plays a leading role in the implementation of manufacturing processes and techniques as well as LEAN methodology and Six Sigma tools.

He/she is responsible for the manufacturing processes and standards and implements them by training shop floor personnel and monitoring their proper implementation.

He/she is also responsible for resolving complex production and manufacturing quality issues.

He/She reports to the Production Support Manager for the Reservoir Performance line.


Essential Responsibilities and Duties:


  • Implemented key elements of Lean methodology such as: standard work instructions, line balancing, scheduling and work sequence (routing) optimization, training development matrix, value stream mapping, Kaizen / 5S exercises, pull processes, TPM, manufacturing cell design and rapid change management.
  • Implementation of process improvements to achieve manufacturing excellence in areas such as process efficiency, cycle time reduction and productivity. Optimization of production processes for the mechanical part of the equipment produced.
  • Feedback on the design of new products in relation to their manufacturability to the mechanical design and industrialization engineers. Validation of the technical files of new products.
  • Review and approval of design changes that may affect current production or inventory.
  • Create, implement and monitor manufacturing process and product quality performance indicators.
  • Track and reduce manufacturing process costs.
  • Participate in the investigation, root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions to resolve manufacturing quality issues.
Supports the Manufacturing Engineer (DFM) on any specific technology issues/constraints for NPD and RR projects.

  • Coordinates with Manufacturing Métiers and other resources across the company to share and leverage best practices.
  • Responsible for ensuring that manufacturing technology solutions achieve the required quality levels, reliability and consistency.

Qualifications:


  • Mechanical engineering degree or equivalent (5 years of higher education)
  • Technical experience in a manufacturing environment including a machine shop, industrial assembly plant or other engineered manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of LEAN Six Sigma techniques and metrics
  • Knowledge of mechanical manufacturing, mechanical parts assembly, electromechanical systems assembly, inspection and testing processes and tools.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Autonomy and decision making skills
  • Ability to promote change through influence
  • Mentoring and training skills
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Fluent English
  • Knowledge of ergonomic and safety standards
  • Knowledge of maintenance systems
