SUPERVISOR - Director of Communications and Outreach or any other supervisor designated by the president

The Website and Internal Communications Manager is in charge of the university's website(s) and its internal communications function.


This position manages all aspects of the university's website(s), including new section development, content creation, regular maintenance, collaboration with other departments, and the management of section editors.

Keeping up with website trends and best practices, this position strategically communicates the AUP story and brand to both external and internal audiences.

They work closely with various university offices, departments, and individuals to develop and maintain the online presence of the university, advising colleagues on implications for other channels, including but not limited to social media and third-party platforms.


Additionally, this position plays a crucial role in information management and content creation, seeks opportunities to enhance departmental visibility, collaborates on university-wide communication needs, takes the lead on project management when needed, and contributes to the development of strategic initiatives and the general communications strategy for the university.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Website Management and Content Creation
Manages the overall functionality, performance, and user experience of the university's website(s).

Ensures that the website(s) is/are up-to-date, visually appealing, and aligned with the university's branding and communication guidelines.


In collaboration with other members of the team and units across the university, regularly reviews and updates website(s) content, including text, images, videos, and other multimedia elements.


Collaborates with cross-functional teams or external agencies to implement website enhancements, such as new features, functionality, SEO and user interface improvements.


In collaboration with the team's writer, moderates and edits content and ensures that writing is in line with the university brand and of high quality.

Envisions how content should be presented in terms of the best medium or media and suggests these to internal clients.


Supports and instructs, as appropriate, content managers in learning new technical skills through training, presentations, written and online instruction and other methods.


Oversees the work of content managers in other units to ensure that it remains in line with the university's policies and best practices.

Initiates and manages projects related to the university's website(s), and coordinates the content development implications of such projects.

Manages the prioritization and processing of web requests, including technical developments and implementation.


Creates content (written, audio, video, etc.), if appropriate, in collaboration with team members and colleagues across the university, for the website as needed.


Community Management and Internal Communications


In collaboration with the Director of Communications and Outreach, develops and implements internal communication strategies to effectively communicate information within the university, considering the diverse needs and interests of various internal stakeholders and units.


Ensures consistent messaging and brand identity by maintaining a consistent tone, style, and brand identity in internal communications, aligning them with the university's guidelines.

Assesses the effectiveness of internal communication efforts through metrics, feedback, and surveys. Use this data to identify areas for improvement and make informed decisions about internal communication strategy updates.

Provide guidance and support to various units or individuals within the university regarding their internal communication needs. This may involve collaborating with unit heads, providing training on communication best practices, or assisting with specific communication projects.

As needed, measures and evaluates the effectiveness of material, campaigns and initiatives, including setting Key Performance Indicators, monitoring and analyzing statistics and providing feedback to drive the development of content and design strategy.


In close collaboration with other members of the Office of Communications and department representatives, creates purposeful communications material, including infographics, promotional materials, and distinct visual identity components for university needs or initiatives.

Overseeing feedback gathering and implementation of requested changes.

Assists with the development and implementation of key strategic initiatives and provides input for the overall strategic goals and strategy of the Office of
Communications.
