Role Overview

We are recruiting a maintenance manager dedicated to research tools.

Within SOLVAY's largest research centre, your mission will be ensure maximum availability of research tools and provide technical support to the scientific teams in the development of new processes and the deployment of new equipment.

Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will be part of a team of around fifty employees and will be responsible for the management and monitoring of around ten maintenance technicians.


Main duties and responsibilities of the position:

  • Manage the team of technicians (chromatography, general maintenance, electrical, automation, instrumentation)
  • Leading regular exchanges with the interested parties present in the research centre (Business Unit / R&I Functions / Hosted Company)
  • Coordinate the implementation of maintenance interventions and improvements in quality, costs and time
  • Manage maintenance contracts on specifics equipments in consultation with users and the Purchasing department
  • Manage and update the technical files and plans of the installations
  • Propose and monitor, in consultation with the interested parties managers, the maintenance budgets
  • Participate in updating the department's Quality documents
  • Improve the availability of the installations (strategic stock, AMDEC, implementation of preventive maintenance plans,...)
  • Adapt the organisation of service to the needs and constraints
  • Manage the regulatory compliance of the installations
  • Participate in the evolution of the MINDSET of these subordinates to ensure the improvement of the Customer orientation
  • Ensure good technical coverage on callouts
  • Ensure maintenance and metrology adapted to ISO 9001 V2015 Quality constraints

Skills required:

Education: General engineer with successful management experience

Technical skills: All technicals areas applicable to the chemical industry and/or research

Behavioural qualities: Customer service orientation, Autonomy and proactivity, Result orientation, Understanding others, and team spirit. Managerial ability is a key to success in the position
