What you will do:

As a trusted member of the Surbourg Site Management Team, you will:

  • Ensure that the site is legally compliant and satisfies EHS policies, standards, and procedures
  • Deal with the local authorities to ensure site compliance with existing and new legislation
  • Ensure that the site management team is appraised of planned changes in EHS legislation and requirements
  • Establish, communicate and train local EHS procedures and processes to reflect the requirements of EHS
  • Ensure that the site emergency plans are uptodate and can demonstrate effective operation
  • Ensure that Sustainability programs are in place for energy, waste, and water management
  • Ensure implementation of agreed actions from both external and internal EHS audits in a timely and prioritised manner
  • Establish and operate an EHS Improvement plan incorporating a Behavioral Safety System (BBS)process
  • Establish and maintain contacts within the EHS organisation to ensure twoway sharing of best practice
  • Design an EHS training and communication plan to satisfy the EHS and GBU requirements and expectations

About You:


Within the Chemical Industry, you have experience in setting up the implementation of WEHS policies, standards, criteria, and programs at the facility/site level, serving as the liaison between the facility/site and area EHS organization and corporate EHS staff.


  • Chemical knowledge to DUT level
  • Fluent French and English language skills
  • Organizational, leadership and influencing skills
  • Knowledge of or interest in environmental, industrial hygiene (health), and safety matters.
  • Project Management skills
  • Demonstrated risk management ability in a similar role in the chemical, or similar industry
  • Financial management principles and knowledge of budget setting process
  • People skills including delegation, coaching, team building and communications
  • Principles of Continuous Improvement and ability to instill this in team
  • Familiar with SAP, Microsoft word, excel, outlook
  • Ability to deliver EHS training
