Local Unit & Position Description:

Are you looking to lead the growth of ESG and sustainability services in an innovative, digitally enabled, purpose-driven business? Are you motivated to support customers to achieve business success and sustainability in their businesses and their extended supply chains?


Our team in France (Paris, Lyon and from remote outside these offices) comprises about 15 members, and works with many of the world's leading companies and top brands and has extensive experience across all sectors, with a focus on consumer goods; utilities; manufacturing; and financial services.


We're recruiting for a dynamic, growth focused Business Development Leader with proven sales and business development experience in the domain of Sustainability, ESG, Supply Chain, Assurance, EHS and other Risk Management Services to join our team in France.


This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading business development role driving growth by taking to market our exciting and innovative portfolio of sustainability and supply chain services, leading sales teams in the France and across Europe.


You will take to market our full suite of sustainability and supply chains services to help customers: improve their commercial and environmental performance; enhance supply chain resilience; reduce ESG risks in their supply chains; improve safety and EHS in their operations and supply chains; accelerate their digital transformation; drive their decarbonization agenda; enhance traceability and transparency and differentiate their products and services in the market.


You will shape our strategy for go to market to win new customers, new business with existing customers with a rich portfolio of value propositions and services in the domains of Supply Chain Risk Management, Sustainability and ESG, EHS, and Digital.

By solving real world customer and industry issues you will further develop our value propositions drawing on an impressive array of technical, digital and expert capabilities.


When doing this, you will get the opportunity to engage with many of the leading companies and brands across a wide range of sectors and to leverage a suite of services and digital technologies to scope sell and deliver innovative solutions.


Key Accountabilities:

You will be expected to lead the business development and sales in France for a range of Sustainability, Supply Chain and Risk Management services and may have specialism and expertise in several of them, including:

  • ESG and sustainability advisory services (including climate change, health, human rights & ethics );
  • Supply Chain Risk Management (Strategy, Sustainable sourcing, Supplier engagement );
  • Supplier Assessment and Audit (Social Audits, Environmental Audits, Process and Quality Audits );
  • EHS and risk management services;
  • Experience in food of solving supply chain sustainability challenges in specific industries such as food and beverage or FMCG industries.
You will be expected to put together and personally lead a business development and sales strategy and plan and to personally win projects to grow our business through the following activities:

  • Proactively seeking to identify customer needs, developing tailored solutions and selling these to new and existing clients;
  • Developing a strong and sustainable sales pipeline to deliver on target sales performance from the France unit;
  • Developing sales capacity and skills across the wider sales and consulting team in France;
  • Ensuring sales to delivery handover of projects, ensuring they are executed to meet or exceed clients' expectations, on time, on budget and to DNV quality standards;
  • Leading and communicating effectively with your project teams and clients;
  • Introducing services from your own/ existing discipline(s) to new clients and new services to existing clients.

Position Qualifications:

  • Experienced business development/sales professional with at least 8 years of experience in a market facing business development/sales role;
  • Proven track record in sales and business development of ESG & sustainability services, ideally within a consultancy environment;
  • Leadership track record and qualities to lead teams of experienced consultants to improve their sales skills, approach and provide sufficient guidance, support and feedback on their performance;
  • Willingness to travel and work around the France and the Western Europe area and on occasions overseas;
  • Fluency in English and French is a prerequisite.
