Global Risk is a thriving expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management.

The teams actively lead a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, contingency, geopolitical, operational, credit, pension, insurance, financial crime and regulatory compliance, market and reputation risks.

All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth.


The Global Risk Analytics (GRA) team is an essential support function and centre of expertise providing analytics services to Wholesale Risk departments and their respective global businesses: CMB and GBM.

Specifically, the GRA Wholesale Credit Decisioning Analytics team is responsible for the development, maintenance and monitoring of Wholesale Credit Risk Decisioning Systems.

The Wholesale Credit Decisioning Analytics team within Global Risk Analytics (GRA) has an exciting opportunity for a Quantitative Analyst. You must have over 3 years' experience working within analytical environments and working with data.

The primary focus of this role will be on the HBCE credit management strategies currently in the PowerCurve (from Experian) and TRIAD (from Fair Isaac) Decisional Systems.

This provides essential real time (on request) and monthly calculations of scored credit approval decisions or referrals, as well as the accept, decline or referral outcomes for pay no pay decisions on all overlimit customers.


In this role, you will:

  • Develop, maintain and improve credit risk processes allowing us to make high quality data driven decisions for our customers;
  • Support growth in the business through the delivery of Wholesale credit and lending initiatives;
  • Build, monitor and maintain credit risk, financial and economic models;
  • Lead analytical projects to completion with mínimal guidance;
  • Formulate and clearly communicate conclusions and proposals, collaborating with teams to make decisions;
  • Identify solutions to emerging risk issues, changing priorities, project completion issues and areas of conflict;
  • Challenge established policy and procedures, where appropriate and suggest alternatives;
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory and documentary requirements;
  • Ensuring adherence to Group and Regional policy and FIM requirements;
  • Providing timely MI and insight into the performance of different portfolios and delivery of key Global/Regional Risk initiatives.
Requirements

To be successful, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Previous experience in a relevant role, i.e. Credit, Risk Analytics, IT or an Analysis based role;
  • Possess a University degree and/or post graduate qualification in an analytical/numerical field or equivalent;
  • Bilingual in French/English, as the local working language is French and numerous interactions are in English with HSBC Regional & Group counterparties primarily on conference/video calls;
  • Strong data management and system deployment skills;
  • Experience of analytical capabilities using relevant software packages to analyse large volume of data i.e. SAS/SQL/VBA/R/Python;
  • Creative problem solver with a track record of challenging the status quo to deliver improved ways of working;
  • Able to progress multiple tasks at the same time;
  • Able to support successful delivery of projects within the agreed time scale, in liaison with all relevant stakeholders: team colleagues, model owners, credit, business, and IT;
  • You are a clear communicator and are able to communicate confidently to a diverse audience in an international team;
  • Able to articulate complex ideas in a clear manner to a wide range of stakeholders including technical and nontechnical colleagues as well as executive level management;
  • You enjoy working collaboratively within a team to achieve shared goals;
  • You are motivated by making a positive contribution to how we support our customers and deliver for HSBC;
