Description

OBSERVABLE UNIVERSE OF THE COMPANY
Our client, a world's leading steel and mining company, is looking for a
Research Engineer in mechanical numeraical modeling.
The role is within the "Process Department".

Their aim is to contribute to development on innovative solutions to improve the quality and predict the steel behavior during solidification phase and hot forming process for Long products.

MISSIONS

You will join a team of 2 specialists working on numerical simulation for a team of 9 researchers in total.

As a research engineer, you will gradually develop skills and work on R&D and industrial projects.

In short term, you will take in charge R&D projects as project leader, propose new ideas, competitors and suppliers survey, university partnerships to generate new solutions in our plants:

  • Supporting the development of R&D models in terms of numerical mechanic, to be integrated in finite element software (Crystal plasticity models, cracks propagation model, iron anisotropy during rolling).
  • Creating external partnership (industry or academic).
You will, aswell, support the Long Products plants for technical assistances through hot forming process investigations by finite element modelling consisting in solving plants quality or production issues:

  • "macroscopic" scale with softwares dedicated to the simulation of process modelling (WB Wicon for example, and internal developments): characterization and optimization of process parameters such product speed, reduction ratio,...
- "microstructure" scale by finite modelling with the software Forge: characterization of stress/strain fields, temperature field, also internal development such as development of porosities, risk of cracks occurrence,..
