Job Description:


Position Overview:


The Senior Underwriter will be actively involved in placing and managing a group-wide portfolio of ceded non-life retrocession (and some reinsurance) programs.

Encompassing both Risk and Cat programs.


Reporting Relationships:


  • Reporting to the Head of Group Retrocession (Ceded)

Location:


  • Zurich, Paris or Dublin

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for a portfolio of ceded retrocession programs, which can encompass both Group covers as well as specific line of business protections, both in Cat and in Non-Cat, both written as retrocession or reinsurance (of our insurance portfolios)

Key duties include:

  • Managing the process of data collection and selection to prepare a highquality submission to the market, with relevant information about our business;
  • Managing the placement and postrenewal updates together with our brokers;
  • Ensuring that covers are purchased in accordance with our security requirements, underwriting strategy and internal processes, as per the External Retrocession Policy.
  • Supporting and contributing to the evaluation of our retrocession strategy for selected lines of business:
  • Work with all internal stakeholders to understand portfolio development and risk drivers to recommend and optimize retrocession strategy as appropriate, including new purchases;
  • Analyzing and reporting on retrocession market, technical developments including new products, including consulting with brokers.
  • Leading retrocessionspecific projects.
  • Strengthening and building Partner Re's brand in the international retrocession markets.

Qualifications:


About you;

Experience:


  • A minimum of 710 years of experience in the reinsurance industry;
  • Extensive experience in underwriting or actuarial or modelling of nonlife reinsurance business, ideally across a number of lines of business.

Skills:


  • Needs to be numerate and comfortable with large data sets and able to see trends and patterns;
  • A team player, willing to collaborate with numerous teams across the company.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation and organizational skills.
  • At ease with broker relationships at a senior level.
  • An impeccable work ethic, and the ability to meet deadlines.
