Purpose
At Bayer, we are shaping the future of agriculture for farmers, consumers, and the planet.
We are seeking a talented Data Scientist that will help fundamentally transform product discovery, development, and risk assessment in the crop protection space by functioning as a scientific leader in computational biology, computational chemistry, and predictive modeling.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive and implement data driven NAMs approaches to complement and integrate with experimental data and ensuring future proof safety testing along the safety testing path.
- Consult data collection for NAM initiative for relevant assays (vitro & vivo)
- Represent NAMs within Regulatory Science Data Science & Digital Transformation and in the global R&D data science community, ensuring proper communication and alignment and prioritization of our NAMs activities and the implementation of innovative approaches in the data science area.
- Identify necessary skill gaps and develop personal and technical data science capabilities in your area of responsibility.
- Present and communicate your novel data science approaches in front of internal and external scientific or regulatory stakeholders.
Qualification & Competencies:
- Data scientist with mathematical, biological, chemical background or bioinformatic degree and 35 years of relevant experience.
- Experience of exposure and/or effect modelling concepts is a plus as well as working experience in the field of toxicology as well as understanding of alternatives to animal testing approaches for risk assessment is a plus.
- Experience of implementing novel approaches into existing processes. Strong change management skills.
- Very good active listening and translation skills to understand the needs of the internal and external customers and communicate with confidence at all levels inside and outside of the company.
- Strong team player with very good communication skills to work in cross functional teams across Toxicology, different expert functions.
- Lifelong learner with flexible and openminded spirit with the appetite to change the existing environment towards novel approaches.
