OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME:


The World Health Organization's Academy ('The Academy') is a new state-of-the-art learning institution that aims to revolutionize lifelong learning for health impact and reach million learners around the world.

Based in Lyon, France, the Academy Campus will offer a wide range of learning modalities (on-line, face-to-face and blended); digital, in-person learning via the hub in Lyon or through the campus network, as well as portable learning laboratories designed for contexts where participants cannot travel or access the digital learning platform.

The Academy is an integral part of the WHO under the management authority of the Director-General.

The overall goal of the Academy is to advance the learning and human development component of WHO's General Programme of Work (GPW) and health sustainable development goals.


More specifically the Academy will:

enhance the competencies of millions of people through cutting-edge digital learning and hybrid learning, including leaders, practitioners, catalysts and lay people.

The WHO Academy will deliver advanced digital and in-person learning to health policy practitioners, health workers and WHO workforce.

The Academy campus will be officially launched in autumn 2024 as a global initiative combining the latest technologies in digital and remote learning with advancements in adult learning science to offer innovative, personalized and multilingual learning that meets priority needs.


DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:


The incumbent will perform the following duties:

Project Management:


  • Developing and maintaining project plans, including timelines, milestones, and deliverables for each course assigned.
  • Liaising with crossfunctional teams to ensure the timely execution of all project tasks.
  • Identifying and resolving any potential bottlenecks or issues that may impede the progress of the project, in consultation with the Learning Design and the Learning Production Team Leads.
  • Ensuring adherence to financial constraints and resource allocations.
  • Conducting regular project status meetings and providing updates to the Unit Head and other relevant stakeholders.

Stakeholder Management:


  • Working with key internal and external stakeholders involved in learning projects.
  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring their active involvement and support throughout the learning design lifecycle.
  • Communicating project plans, progress, and outcomes to stakeholders clearly and concisely.
  • Soliciting feedback from stakeholders to incorporate their inputs into project planning and execution.

Vendor Management:


  • Preparing the Terms of Reference for vendors based on course production requirements, in consultation with the Learning Production Team Lead.
  • Selecting the required vendors and suppliers to meet the specific requirements of each course.
  • Monitoring vendor performance and service delivery, ensuring compliance with the Academy's established standards and expectations.
  • Managing relationships with vendors to foster a collaborative and productive working environment.
  • Onboarding selected vendors to establish clear understanding of course requirements and design specifications and defining the communication protocols and channels for effective collaboration.
  • Addressing any vendorrelated issues or concerns in a timely and effective manner.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


Education:


Essential:


  • An advanced level university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in adult learning, learning/education technologies, instructional design or related field.
  • Certification in project management.

Experience:


Essential:


  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in the area of learning design.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in project management.
  • Demonstrated experience at the international level.

Skills:


  • Strong skills in learning and development including designing courses. Exceptional project management skills with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and milestones effectively.
  • Ability to embrace diversity and promote inclusivity in all aspects of work, fostering an atmosphere of mutual respect, open communication, and collaboration to ensure that all voices are heard and valued within the WHO Academy team.
