Shailesh Ravi Varade

Currently I am a Postdoctroal researcher in Laboratorie de Physique des Solides. Part of the science team for International Space Station experiments of the FOAM-C project. Data treatment and analysis of the images (including their downloading) and participating in the project management.

Prior to postdoc I worked as a Scientist Product & Process at Almora Botanica UK Ltd. (Varana Design Pvt. Ltd.) where I worked on cosmetic formulations adhering to sustainable principles. We work on products complying with COSMOS, Vegan, Cruelty Free standards, which can uphold the European standards and regulations. 

In addition my research experience during my PhD included Colloid and Interface Science, Intermolecular and Surface forces, Complex Fluids, Rheology, Thin Films, Surfactant Science, Foam characterization, Ion Specific Effect, and Synergism. My doctoral work included characterizing foaming behavior of zwitterionic surfactant in the presence of salts (mono-, di-, and tri-valent) and analyzing of specific ion effect and synergism.

I also had a research experience in Wastewater Technology Division in National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) Nagpur, India. Here I worked on a project of techno-economic assessment of waste-water management for existing disposal system vis-à-vis advanced treatment system for recycle/reuse at Tata Motors, Pune, India.

• Execute prototype developments for selected formulations. Following prototype developments, follow stability protocols to test product stability. Use various characterization techniques to test stability. Document and report the findings.
• Screen ingredients using a high throughput device to select for better sensorial, stability and visual appeal. Test the prototypes for stability and characterize them.
• Prepare scale up products for testing manufacturing of our products and prepare documents for transfer to manufacturing partner.
• Address stability issues. Maintain all stability protocol instruments/devices for a smooth functioning.
• Liaise with external service providers (Micro challenge tests, Analytical testing, In-Vitro test and clinical) to complete these activities and document them as per standard best practices.
• Generate data for patent/filings and do literature search as well as market search for product categories.
• Liaise with manufacturing partners for successful product launches.

I have a PhD in Chemical Engineering and also I have done masters in Chemical Engineering with specialization in Material Science.
