    About us

Recherche Translationnelle en Oncologie Pédiatrique (RTOP), U830 INSERM, Institut Curie Research Center, located on the Institut Curie campus in the center of Paris.

Institut Curie is a leading centre for cancer treatment and cancer research in France. Institut Curie's Research Center, with more than 1,000 employees and a strong international representation, aims to develop fundamental research and use this knowledge to improve the diagnosis, prognosis, and therapy of cancer patients as part of the continuum between fundamental research and therapeutic innovation.

    Mission

    Job description

The RTOP team led by Dr Gudrun Schleiermacher, at Institut Curie, Paris, seeks to recruit a highly qualified postdoctoral researcher with an interest in computational biology. The candidate should have at least 3 years of postdoctoral experience in the field of oncology. The successful candidate will work on the national paediatric oncology study MICCHADO, which aims at comprehensive molecular and immunological characterization of high-risk pediatric cancers at the time of diagnosis, during treatment and follow-up. This position is part of the team's recent developments relating to molecular characterization and the study of clonal evolution of high-risk pediatric cancers, integrating immunological aspects. The analyzes are carried out primarily using samples (blood, plasma, tissues) from patients, and/or, in addition, using experimental animal or cellular models. The laboratory benefits from cutting-edge facilities (sequencing, proteomics, animal facilities, high-throughput screening platforms). The candidate will work in close collaboration with other lab members performing novel analytical technics on circulating DNA and bio-informatics analyses.

    Research project

The project aims to improve the understanding of the mechanisms of oncogenesis and tumor progression, based on the specific molecular and immunological characterization of high-risk pediatric cancers through the analysis of samples collected at diagnosis and during treatment and follow-up of pediatric cancer patients (> 580 patients included in the MICCHADO study). As part of the MICCHADO study, the identification of genetic alterations linked to resistance to treatments is carried out through a study of liquid biopsies (circulating tumor DNA), subsequently integrating a search for epigenetic modifications, as well as proteomic analyses. The immunological characterization is based on an analysis of the tumor microenvironment in RNAseq, as well as flow cytometry profiling of blood samples. The immunogenomic study will integrate intrinsic elements (clonogenicity of T-cell receptors) and extrinsic elements (search for viral DNA).

    Career prospects

    · Unique opportunity to participate in world-class research in the field of paediatric oncology.

    · Exposure to a wide range of NGS applications and multi-omics research.

    · Long-term career development opportunities.

All our opportunities are open to people with disabilities
