FairScope is looking for a talented and dedicated intern to join our team in the role of a GUI Developer for our PlanktoScope instrument.

In this role, you will be responsible for the complete overhaul of the existing User Interface, ensuring that it is not only functional but also user-friendly and meets the high standards of our innovative company.

Success in this position means delivering an intuitive and efficient interface that enhances user experience, aligns with the company's vision, and contributes to the overall success and innovation of FairScope.

Responsibilities:

Requirements Gathering and Analysis:

Engage with the PlanktoScope community members to gather their needs and expectations. Analyze these requirements to precisely define both functional and technical specifications for the GUI overhaul.

Design and Development:

Collaborate with the technical team to brainstorm and conceptualize innovative designs for the new GUI. Implement the designs by developing the interface using suitable web technologies, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.

Testing and Validation:

Develop and execute user test scenarios to validate design choices and functionalities. Gather user feedback, analyze the results, and make necessary adjustments to ensure an optimal user experience.

Documentation and Training:

Create comprehensive, clear, and user-friendly documentation for both end-users and the technical team. Conduct training sessions to facilitate the adoption of the new GUI, ensuring a smooth transition for all users.

Qualifications:

Study in Computer Science, Interaction Design, or related field.
Strong web development skills, including proficiency in , HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Familiarity with Node-RED, or a willingness to learn.
Excellent problemsolving skills and a team player with strong communication abilities.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks concurrently, and pay attention to detail.
A keen interest in marine sciences, biology, or microscopy is highly desirable.
