    Network Technician responsibilities include:

    Responsibilities
  • Design and install well-functioning computer networks, connections, and cabling
  • Perform troubleshooting to system failures and identify bottlenecks to ensure long term efficiency of network
  • Inspect LAN infrastructure and fix minor or major problems/bugs
  • Test and configure software and maintain and repair hardware and peripheral devices
  • Evaluate network performance and find ways of improvement
  • Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance without deterring others from completing their own work
  • Do regular data backups to protect the organization's information
  • Provide technical direction to co-workers on the computer and network usage and offer comprehensive advice and instructions
  • Wireless Access Point Troubleshooting, replace the hardware
  • Requirements and skills
  • Proven experience as network technician or relevant position
  • Outstanding diagnostic, problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Good knowledge of LAN/WAN networks, TCP/IP protocols and network technologies
  • Hands-on experience with common software and hardware
  • CCENT/CCNA qualifications are strongly preferred
  • BSc/BA in computer science, computer engineering or relevant field
  • They resolve system glitches and try to come up with solutions to overcome restrictions so that the network is working efficiently in the long term.
  • Technicians also give them tips to troubleshoot any basic networking issues as they arise.
  • They train clients and in-house personnel so that they can operate networks properly.
  • Technicians should have had experience in single-mode, multi-mode, fiber optic, and CAT/ cabling.
  • They install wireless computing networks, cabling, and connections.
  • Technicians should be knowledgeable about TCP/IP protocols, DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, and other networking basics.
  • They should be familiar with virtualization technologies, such as Hyper-V and VMware.
  • Technicians inspect LAN/WAN infrastructures and troubleshoot any issues affecting them.
  • They diagnose the performance of the network and determine the means of improving it.
  • Technicians upgrade and maintain networks.
  • They provide technical advice to clients concerning the usage of the network.
  • Technicians fix and maintain hardware and peripheral devices.
