    VICE PRESIDENT RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT -PARIS (on site min 3 days per week)

    Attractive base salary + 30% bonus + equity

    This is an exceptional opportunity for someone who is passionate about working at the cutting edge medical devices and pushing technology to its limits. The company's technology helps physicians and surgeons eliminate diagnostic and treatment uncertainties by enabling real-time, in vivo microscopic visualization which enables the identification and targeting of abnormal cells during interventional procedures in the fields of oncology and immunology. The product is currently on sale in the US, Europe and Asia including China.

    The Mission

    Working withan exceptionally successful CEO and one of the best COOs in this area, you will lead a a multidisciplinary team of 20+ Engineers working in an Agile environment, in opto-mechatronics, AI and image processing, developing cutting-edge medical devices that improve patient outcomes on a daily basis.

    The company is very leading edge and they have a very ambitious product roadmap focusing on hardware development including molecular imaging, a combination of surgical robotics and surgical navigation and the launch of AI-based features. They want an individual who also has strong outward stakeholder facing skills – willing and able to network and engage with key stakeholders, KOLs, to understand product strengths, limitations, potential new indications and opportunities for expansion;

    In addition someone who will actively search for new requirements and new therapeutic opportunities – a "techno-push"- actively involved in product design, product and feature backlog, prioritisation. Someone happy to work closely with researchers and academics as well as actively scour the world of technology for trends and ideas.

    Engage with scientific research activities - the current CSO will be taking a less involved and active role. Therefore, developing relationships and engaging with key research organisations, bodies, universities is important.

    You will be a driven technological visionary, motivated to push your skills and those of your team to the edge with the aim of both saving lives and/ or improving the quality of lives of people suffering from oncological and immunological diseases.

    VICE PRESIDENT RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

    • Reporting to the COO, you participate as a member of the leadership team in the definition and execution of the company strategy with your colleagues of marketing, clinical, operations, finance and QARA
    • You have a very strong software / AI background ideally and you translate the strategy in a technology roadmap and into product development plans and budgets , objectives and performance development
    • You lead the team and manage your own workload of projects also
    • You ensure R&D activities and technical documentation comply with current regulations, working closely with Regulatory and Quality teams to mitigate risks
    • You identify and contribute to new partnerships in technology fields including artificial intelligence and robotics, molecular imaging
    • You liaise with leading Research and Academia Institutions looking out for new trends and collaboration opportunities
    • You organize the R&D department in alignment with the intended strategy (currently systems, probe, hardware- optronics, SW, image processing and AI and design transfer°
    • You translate company knowledge into IP and you monitor global technology scouting
    • You define priorities and manage escalations
    • You strengthen the Company's culture of accountability, agile innovation and ways of working, and over-achievement.

    Your Profile and Culture

    • You have a Master's or PhD degree or equivalent in mechatronics or biomedical engineering or similar with +/- 10 years of experience and the capacity and experience to understand both technology platforms and business economics in health technologies
    • You may have worked in one or more of the following - robotics, molecular imaging, diagnostic imaging, medical imaging, (all with AI) and or general surgery, endoscopy ,laparoscopy with imaging /AI.
    • You will have both hardware, firmware and software experience and skills
    • You have senior R&D leadership experience and the drive to grow a unique MedTech company in multicenter development and transfer practices
    • Ideally, you have encountered a roadmap inclusive of AI
    • You have experience with agile methodology, management practices, decision making and problem solving
    • You have in-depth knowledge of standards and regulations specific to medical devices (ISO 13485, MDR 2017/745 EU, 21 CFR for the most important but also FDA)
    • You may have had exposure to the Chinese market
    • You can think strategically and put strategy into action
    • You bring energy and perspective into the interactions with all stakeholders
    • You are familiar with global culture and you are fluent in English and French
    • You are prepared to work from our central Paris office most of the time
    • Work from Home facility (1 to 2 days/week)
