Your role


You will join a team of specialists in physico-chemistry and chemical engineering applied to the processes of the steel industry (from mining, ironmaking to the coated products).

You will work closely with all ArcelorMittal R&D labs and for all ArcelorMittal plants.

The research engineer will develop knowledge, tools and solutions for direct reduction (DR) processes in order to offer the best solutions to our plants:

  • Enrich mass and energy balance models
  • Optimize energy consumption and H2 transition
  • Find synergies in the insertion of DR in the integrated sites.
Your chemical engineering and physical chemistry skills will be applied to the Finishing processes to:

  • Solve lubrication technology challenges for the development of new steel grades (e.g. electrical steels)


The research engineer will also be implied in the development of analytical methods and will participate to transversal activities (safety, quality management, creativity...).


The research engineer will be attached to 'Products Analysis and Chemistry Engineering' team in the Process Engineering cluster from Process Research Center.

You will have close contact with other teams in the worldwide network of ArcelorMittal labs.


Your profile

  • You hold a Master degree in Chemical engineering and/or Physicochemistry.
  • You have competencies in chemical engineering, physicochemistry, organic / analytical chemistry.
  • You have a good scientific/technical level.
  • You have an advanced level in English and French.
  • You have the ability to propose innovative solutions, to make decision and to make report both with analysis and synthesis mind.
  • You are pragmatic.
  • You have good relationships ability in a team work, in internal and external networks.
