Paris salesroom is organizing more than 60 auction sales and is welcoming travelling exhibitions sold in the international salesroom of Bonhams.

**Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Sourcing & Expertise:

  • Sourcing, researching, pricing and cataloguing items for the European Wines sales (live, on line and collections).
  • Work with the specialist and Global Head of wines on strategies to drive new business opportunities for the department
  • Maintain and support the ongoing development of a database of customers both buyers and sellers for the department and work with client development.
  • Use personal relationships, tastings, dinners and all types of events (private & trade) to build an impressive and important network of private and trade clients who trust your knowledge and expertise and will do business with you on both the buy & sell sides Maintain contact with established collectors to encourage further business with the company, either as buyers or sellers
  • Be a respected and trusted authority on the wine market and use that experience with clients, press and on social media
  • Maintain contact with established trade contacts to encourage further business with the company. Assist with sale preparation, condition reports, exhibition events and buyers "to sell the sale".
Sale Production

  • Liaise with the Head of Sale on the production of an advertising and marketing campaign, within the budgets set, to promote the business getting and sales activities of the department
  • To satisfactorily complete, as and when required, the valuation of customer's property both in the office and at other venues within France.
  • Support the specialists of the team to encourage their development and knowledge of the market Inspecting and authenticating property, ensure that all photography is completed in a timely manner, researching and writing catalogue, Produce and manage appraisal and proposal coordination, Keep business getting spreadsheet updated to current status
Selling & Other

  • Maintain an awareness of our competitor's strategies to maintain the competitive position of this department in the market
  • Promote the department through lectures and other promotional events
  • Consistently seek opportunities to promote and sell other Bonhams' categories to own client base Look for innovative solutions to make our business better

Key Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge of the Wine trade within an international auction house
  • French and English fluent, an additional European language is a plus
  • Good word processing skills, experience of Microsoft and Excel.
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills.
  • Outgoing, social and personable character with a strong ability to network and convert social connections into business opportunities
  • Understand and demonstrate the highest standards of integrity: protecting the Bonhams Wine & Spirits vision and brand equity while achieving short term sales goals
  • Flexibility and the ability to be a team player.
  • Able to work to tight deadlines and under pressure and eager to travel Please note this role requires a significant amount of physical work moving cases of wines in our warehouse (Burgundy) and private cellars
