The Bohr Hamiltonian (BH) has been proved to be successful in describing the structure in the medium mass region where low-energy states can be described as elongation vibrations.
The BH gives direct access to the low-energy vibrational and rotational nuclear states as well as the electromagnetic transtion rates between them.
These quantities represent a critical input in combinatorial level densities models that can be used for codes such as FIFRELIN or CONRAD to produce nuclear data.

The input required by the BH code in order to produce the level spectra can be either a purely phenomenological potential or one derived from microscopic calculations.
During the master-degree internship, the student will work to couple the BH code with the HFB3 code, which is used to perform calculations of nuclear ground state properties starting from an effective nucleon-nucleon interaction and based on mean-field formalism.
The student will then focus on how to estimate the energy correction arising from the coupling with quadrupole degrees of freedom to the nuclear ground state.
To this purpose, the student will work on the adjusting of the paramater of a simpler micro-macro model in order to evaluate the impact of these additional correlations on the parameters of the model.
To achieve the result, the student will investigate several advanced statistical tools as Neural Networks or Gaussian Process Emulators in order to reduce the computational cost of the project.
