Department Profile
The Fixed Income Division (FID) is comprised of Interest Rate and Currency Products, Credit Products and Distribution.

Professionals in the Division assess and actively manage risk, trade securities, and structure as well as execute innovative transactions in the fast-paced and constantly changing global markets.

The Commodities Division is a market leader across a broad range of commodities markets, with expertise in areas including client risk management, financing solutions and investor products Sales & Trading.

Risk and Data Analytics Centre, Paris

As we see increasing client interest in quantitative strategies, maintaining, and enhancing our leading position in risk analytics and technology is critical to our Institutional Securities Group (ISG) businesses globally.

The seamless collaboration between technologists and ISG personnel, including data scientists, financial engineers and quantitative analysts helps to deliver innovative tools and solutions that differentiate us from our competitors.

Morgan Stanley is establishing a new Risk & Data Analytics ("R&D") Centre in Paris, where it will support our growth strategy for ISG both in EMEA and more broadly.

The Centre will deliver cutting-edge, proprietary solutions to address the rapidly changing business needs of our sales and trading franchise while providing a platform to foster innovation for our market's businesses, driven by analytical and technological excellence.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Qualifications
Primary Responsibilities

  • Research, development, and deployment of new MS electronic trading algorithms with direct impact on desk PnL
  • Strong collaboration with trading desk to discuss new trading ideas (including alpha research) and modelling
  • Ownership and maintenance of research projects (includes performance monitoring, recalibration depending on market conditions, etc)
  • Strong collaboration with IT to coordinate delivery and contribute to trading framework
Desired Skills

  • Advanced degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or Computer Science
  • Strong technical skills (Q/kdb, Python, R) for statistical and econometric analysis
  • Experience in time series analysis and large datasets
  • Strong communication (role requires effective collaboration and consensusbuilding across a range of functional groups)
  • Analytical thinking and problemsolving skills
  • Ability to present complex issues clearly, both verbally and in writing, is essential
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work thoughtfully and independently and manage multiple projects
Beneficial Skills

  • Experience in an electronic trading or research role
  • Knowledge of FX, Rates or Options products and Market Microstructure
  • C++/Java Objectorientated development experience in a production financial context
