EDF is in the process of acquiring GE Steam Power's nuclear activities, pending customary conditions including regulatory approvals. This M&A project will create an opportunity for Business Transformation. In a context of transformation and change at scale, _the legal team is key_ to support this change and position GE Steam Power's Nuclear business for success across the globe. **Roles and Responsibilities**

This role will encompass:

- managing idea generation and advising the Patent Evaluation Boards on patentability
- opposition and enforcement work, including oral hearings
- patent searches, freedom to operate analysis, prior art searches
- managing a network of outside patent counsels
- regular annuity and cost reviews with budgetary targets
- supporting M&A transactions by identifying patent portfolios

**Required Qualifications**
- European Patent Attorney, preferably also qualified or experienced in working with a patent office of another European jurisdiction.
- Technical background in electrical, mechanical engineering or equivalent, with experience in rotating equipment.
- Experience in leading and supervising external counsel in drafting and global patent prosecution
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Capable of devising innovative IP strategies.
- Strong awareness for cost aspects related to decisions to be taken during the patent lifecycle..
- Knowledge of laws, regulations, practices and procedures relating to patenting in Europe, US and Asia.
- Interpersonal skills to work effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Fluent in English, fluency in French considered a strong asset.

**Desired Characteristics**
- Technical experience of working in the Power business.
- Experience with the Anaqua patent management tool.
- Experience acting as European representative before the European Patent Office.
- Experience prioritizing competing demands to make real time decisions/recommendations in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly identify & prioritize issues, develop process-driven solutions, and effectively communicate with a wide range of people.
- Job position could be in : France, Sweden, Finland, Poland, and Hungary

**Responsabilités essentielles**

Ce rôle englobera également:

- La gestion du processus de génération d'idées ainsi que le conseille des commissions sur l'évaluation des conditions de brevetabilité
- Le travail d'opposition et d'exécution, y compris les audiences
- La recherche d'antériorité de brevets, recherche et étude de liberté d'exploitation, recherches sur l'état de la technique
- La gestion d'un réseau d'avocats spécialisés en propriété intellectuelle et/ou industrielle
- Le suivi des coûts et la gestion des budgets
- Le support aux opérations de fusions et acquisitions en identifiant les portefeuilles de brevets

**Qualifications / Exigences**
- Avocat spécialisé en droit européen des brevets, ayant également une expérience avec un office des brevets d'une autre juridiction européenne.
- Expérience technique en génie électrique, mécanique ou équivalent, avec expérience également dans l'industrie liée aux équipements rotatifs.
- Un minimum de 5 ans d'expérience dans les activités liées aux demandes de brevets (description et la contestation).
- Expérience dans le suivi et la supervision des avocats externes dans le cadre de la rédaction de brevets et ce, dans un périmètre monde.
- Excellentes habiletés en communication orale et écrite.
- Capable de concevoir des stratégies innovantes en matière de propriété intellectuelle.
- Forte sensibilisation aux aspects financiers liés aux décisions à prendre au cours du cycle de vie du brevet.
- Connaissance des lois, règlements, pratiques et procédures relatifs aux brevets en Europe, aux États-Unis et en Asie.
- Compétences interpersonnelles requise permettant d'agir en relation avec plusieurs niveaux et fonctions de la société.
- Maitrise anglais impératif, la maîtrise de francais est considérée comme un atout important.

**Caractéristiques souhaitées**
- Expérience technique dans le secteur de l'énergie.
- Expérience avec l'outil de gestion des brevets ANAQUA.
- Expérience en tant que mandataire européen auprès de l'Office E
