Visual Merchandising Manager, Southern Europe | Paris

Purpose of the role-


The Visual Merchandising Manager will oversee the execution of global VM guidelines across all Southern Europe signature stores and counters.

This includes retail campaigns, new store openings, merchandising, and balancing our creative standards with retail expectations.


As the main contact for the retail teams, the Visual Merchandising Manager will be responsible for communicating information that is critical to the success of the visual merchandising displays and providing training to the retail teams, ensuring the Aesop visual language is consistently maintained across all stores in France, Belgium, The Netherlands, and Spain.


The sub regional VM Manager will follow the guidelines as provided by the Global Head Office, interpreting them locally in each location in conjunction with the Senior Visual Merchandising Manager, EMEA.


This is a full-time role, located in our Paris Head Office.

Key responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to-

  • Plan and execute strategic campaign merchandising in each unique space, balancing the product focus with campaign navigation and visual storytelling principles
  • Inspire, mentor and coach the local Visual Merchandising team, managing performance, goals, ongoing feedback and development initiatives on an annual basis
  • In accordance to the Global Head Office direction, design largescale installations and props to be activated across all stores
  • Submit all VM reporting to Senior Visual Merchandising Manager, EMEA in a timely manor
  • Design and install press, customer and cultural events to support new product launches
  • Work closely with the Marketing Manager to track budgets across all VM projects
  • Build strong relationships and work collaboratively with Marketing and Retail Managers to ensure the presentation of stores and counters is always in line with company standards and guidelines
  • Develop and nurture relationships with external fabricators and contractors
  • Work collaboratively with Retail and Store Design to ensure success of new store openings as directed by the Senior Visual Merchandising Manager, EMEA Establish communication with all relevant parties, including Store Managers, Retail Business Managers and Marketing Managers including clear and timely VM directives and feedback
  • Train the retail teams to be aware of VM guidelines, including but not limited to, product display, demonstration area, back of house, POS, lighting and so forth
  • Support with additional projects (press events, product launches) as required

To be successful, you will have -

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in one of the following, visual merchandising, visual arts, interior or set design
years' experience within a commercial, retail and/or creative space - Managerial experience and capacity to lead a team

  • An appreciation and understanding of Aesop's aesthetic and approach to visual merchandising as well as the aptitude and proven ability to adapt these to suit our unique portfolio of stores
  • Superb attention to detail and meticulousness in visual merchandising execution or interior styling
  • The ability to communicate detailed visual concepts both verbally and graphically
  • Experience styling and documenting interior spaces for social media purposes
  • Experience in prop sourcing for specific project briefs
  • Capacity to adopt a sustainable approach
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others to achieve optimal results
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Proactively present and escalate highly creative ideas and suggestions to ensure continuous improvement
  • Ability to work across multiple projects running alongside each other
  • Handson approach and ability to complete tasks within set timeframes
  • Ability to travel frequently
