Who we are?

Volta Medical is a young innovative start-up in the south of France, aimed at creating and bringing to the market AI software products to help cardiologists during heart surgeries.

We are a team of HEC and Ecole Polytechnique graduates, as well as world-known cardiologists from France and the US working in a great environment in order to make a difference in the health market.

Our main product is a therapeutic solution using a data-driven approach for treating AF based on intracardiac signals' analysis. This solution builds on artificial intelligence approaches to gain insight into innovative therapies for AF.

In fact, this represents one of the first fully AI-guided successful surgical procedures, serving as a revolutionary step in the field of AI.

Mission*- Current AF-Xplorer product was designed to analyze the real time intracardiac signals to detect potential ablation targets called dispersion.

Dispersion points are - manually or automatically - collected and displayed on top of the atrial anatomy to create a 3D dispersion map.

The next step for the physician is to build a tailored ablation strategy.

Rather than ablating isolated points or a whole surface, the physician ablates along a set of lines at specific locations.

Lines are based both on heuristics known to optimized clinical outcomes and geometrically from dispersion maps._

Ablation planning is critical, but still operatordependent.

In this project we will design an algorithm to define the optimal ablation strategy before starting the ablation:
_

Define research problem statement in collaboration with clinicians

Participate in data collection and preparation
Document literature review
Build and evaluate state of the art models

Profile*- Master student in data science, mathematics, computer science or bioengeering available for a 6 months internship

Good academic level in data science
Strong mathematical and algorithmic background
Experience with 3D graphic libraries is appreciated
Experience in healthcare is appreciated

Skills*- Proficiency in Python and most common data science libraries

Ease with a Linux development environment
Versioning with git
Testing and CI/CD
Very good level in English
