Post-Doc position in cardiac electrophysiology - Pessac, France - Université de Bordeaux

    Default job background
    Description

    Employeur

You want to join a leading team on an innovative project in cardiology?

Join the Institut des Maladies du Rythme Cardiaque () – at the University of Bordeaux

Within a university hospital centre, each institute brings together teams of researchers, caregivers and businesses around a single clinical theme (infectious diseases, rare diseases, diseases of the nervous system, etc.).

Within the Liryc Pathophysiology division, we investigate the electrical behavior of cardiac cells and the whole heart to understand mechanisms of complex cardiac rhythms that lead to lethal ventricular arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death. We design and implement using preclinical and clinical studies, novel translational techniques for the prevention and control of heart rhythm disorders. Our group takes a vertically integrated, bench to bedside research approach aiming to dissect cardiovascular problems that range from isolated diseased hearts to in-vivo electrophysiological experiments.

In this context, we are looking for a Post-Doc position in cardiac electrophysiology.

    Votre mission

The CarDICo project, funded by the National Research Agency (ANR) aims to develop novel signal processing algorithms to improve the diagnosis and treatment of ventricular arrhythmia induced sudden cardiac death. The project is a multi-scale and interdisciplinary approach to test a novel anti-arrhythmic pacing strategy.

In this context, your main mission will be to assist in in-vivo electrophysiology studies and perform optical mapping on ventricular wedge preparations. This will enable the testing of a novel anti-arrhythmic pacing methodology.

    As such you:

    · Support and assist in-vivo sheep studies

    · Extract and prepare ventricular wedge slices for optical mapping

    · Perform optical mapping studies to better understand electrical wave propagation during normal, diseased and externally paced conditions

    · Perform ECG data analysis to correlate ex-vivo and in-vivo results

    Vos atouts / Vos talents

Holder of a PhD in in biomedical engineering or related biotechnology disciplines, you ideally have some knowledge in cardiac physiology and data analysis.

    · You have very good understanding of electrophysiology and ECG signal processing

    · You have knowledge of optical mapping of small and/or large animal models

    · You have general working knowledge of programming in either Matlab, Python or C++

    · You know and enjoy working in a multidisciplinary team

    · You communicate easily with your project partners

    · You are fluent in English in a multicultural work environment

    Do you recognize yourself? Apply

You will be integrated into a specialized team and supported to acquire more skills in an innovative context

    More information:

By joining the Liryc, you will work in a unique multidisciplinary setting that allows a direct relationship between basic research and clinical applications. You'll integrate a dynamic research team, in contact with teams in the medical field, and at the forefront of research in clinical electrocardiology, in an international environment.
