Gourmey is France's pioneering cultivated meat company, creating delicious and sustainable restaurant-grade meats directly from animal cells.

We are seeking a mission-driven, motivated, and passionate patent attorney to develop and implement the company's patent strategy.

Reporting directly to the Head of legal & IP, you will be part of a team of three and will significantly contribute to Gourmey's IP policy.

What you will be doing

• Challenge and roll out patent strategy
• Identify innovations & technical competitive advantages of Gourmey, and evaluate protection relevancy
• Conduct IP studies in close collaboration with R&D teams
• Draft patents and procedures in interaction with external patent attorneys
• Manage patent portfolio
• Actively develop an IP culture internally (training, tools, etc.)
• Manage IP-related contracts, at least NDAs, depending on profile
• Manage trademarks portfolio, depending on profile

About you

• M.Sc. and/or Ph.D. in (Industrial) Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Bioprocessing of Stem Cell Biology, Food Chemistry, Food Science, or a related discipline
• European and/or US Patent Attorney
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in IP, either in a patent law firm or industry, preferably in biotechnology or food industry
• Strong analytical, writing, and critical thinking skills
• Proficient with patent databases and drafting
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work autonomously
• Fluent in English and French, both written and spoken; French is essential for this role
• Passionate about Gourmey's mission of innovation-driven sustainable foods
• Collaborative mindset, eager to learn other areas of IP
• Enthusiastic, with a strong work ethic, self-motivation, ownership, and a positive attitude
