We are seeking a dynamic and experienced business manager in our office in Paris, France.

The Business Manager will have a critical role in overseeing and ensuring compliance with VAT regulations in Europe. They will also drive process improvements and provide extensive support for AVASK and its clients across all services.


Drawing on a strong foundation of business acumen and experience, the Business Manager will be essential in ensuring compliance with VAT regulations, implementing process enhancements, and providing comprehensive support for AVASK and its clients while spearheading strategic initiatives critical to the organisation's success.


Responsibilities:


Business responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and oversee the execution of AVASK FR operations in collaboration with Head Office.
  • Ensure agreed procedures are documented for all activities and adhered to in accordance with the AVASK Group QMS.
  • Ensure client service levels are maintained.
  • Monitor and report on the overall performance of AVASK FR and report back to Operations, Head Office.
  • Support the team on achieving the business development objectives.
  • Monitor and handle HR matters in liaison with the Head Office HR and Recruitment team.
  • Ensuring that the company has the adequate and suitable resources to complete its activities whilst working alongside HR and other Managers.
  • Organising and coordinating operations in ways that ensure maximum productivity.
  • Supervising the work of employees and providing feedback and counsel to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Support staff and liaise with HR to support where required.
  • Organising training of new and existing staff.
  • Maintaining relationships with partners/vendors/suppliers.
  • Gathering, analysing, and interpreting external and internal data and writing reports.
  • Assessing overall company performance against objectives
  • Monitor and report on agreed KPIs.
  • Ensuring adherence to legal rules and guidelines.
  • Ensuring that the premises are properly maintained and cleaned, and that adequate fire prevention and security systems are in place.
  • Managing the procurement of equipment, supplies and services within target budgets.
  • Arranging appropriate maintenance for office equipment.
  • Monitoring client satisfaction, record, investigate, and respond to complaints.
  • Highlighting opportunities for improvement and risks.
  • Assisting with the internal auditing of systems and processes.

VAT Compliance responsibilities:

  • Indirect Tax Compliance: Responsibility for European VAT compliance ensuring timely and accurate filing of VAT returns. Provide advice and support to clients on all Indirect Tax related matters.
  • Process Improvement: Ensure process quality and identify areas for process improvement within the VAT compliance framework and work with stakeholders to implement streamlined and efficient procedures.

Technology Integration:
Lead efforts to leverage automation and technology solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy in Indirect Tax compliance processes.

Work collaboratively with the Software Team to identify and implement software tools and systems that streamline data collection, reporting, and reconciliation for VAT and Sales Tax requirements.

Invoicing Compliance:
Stay up to date with e-invoicing regulations and mandates in France.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of e-invoicing requirements into the company's billing and accounting systems, ensuring compliance with all electronic invoicing standards.


  • Regulatory Updates: Keep abreast of changes in Indirect Tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements ensuring the company remains fully compliant at all times.
  • Risk Management: Assess potential risks and opportunities related to Indirect Taxes and implement measures to mitigate risks and maximise tax efficiencies.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and organised records of all Indirect Taxrelated activities, including filings, supporting documents, and correspondence.
  • Adhoc Projects: Participate in adhoc projects related to Indirect Taxation, financial analysis, or process improvement, as assigned by senior management.

Knowledge, skills and experience:


  • Educated to Degree Level.
  • Proven experience in business and tax or relevant role minimum 10 business acumen and comprehensive VAT experience.
  • Fluent in French and English.
  • Has shown evidence of own career and professional development.
  • Extensive experience working in a large accounting function.
  • Experience of managing a team.
  • Proven track record of experience in supervising, leading and coaching a team.
