Position Summary
The Sustainability Engineer participates to daily ship project energy efficiency and sustainability routines for specified Vessel Classes during their design and building phases Participation to concept design process for upcoming new building projects belongs also to his focus areas The Sustainability Engineer works closely with Maritime Technology and Newbuilding Projects teams and provides expertise and support on technology surveillance and development in addition to various newbuild related technical projects such as technical feasibility studies new technologies qualification and field follow up


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Energy efficiency

  • Actively coordinates the different disciplines by leading the project general EEV development plan Participates to definition follow up and approval process of ships energy transformers
energy consumers equipment and systems during the design and building phases

  • Ensures Energy Efficiency Values (EEV) reviews for ongoing projects
  • Builds and maintains EEV models for every class of ships built in Saint-Nazaire Participates to EEV bonus verification process
EEDI and CII reviews and simulation

  • Applies knowledge of relevant rules and regulations to the design process Assesses and advises specifications measurements
and calculations relevant to ship design Studies compares assesses
and shares statistical information and analyses across various ships and areas bringing forth observations

  • Works in close relation with Marine Operation for ships in service
  • Develops and prepares reports and records related to assignments or projects
  • Stays current on relevant maritime industry and technical research and projects; seeks information and evaluates new technology with knowledge experts and suppliers
  • Participates actively in fleetwide projects on data base analysis and AI projects

Sustainability

  • Participates actively to RCG corporate net zero strategy
  • Ensures technology surveillance with experts and suppliers
  • Ensures regulations surveillance with regulation committees and working groups
  • Participates with Fuel Procurement department to eFuels prospection
  • Participates to new projects at the early stage (concept design) for various tasks specified for each project with Technical Manager
  • Participates in design criteria selection and developments for new projects
  • Feasibility studies for different field of technologies as needed

Others

  • Participates to risks management process for new technologies qualification and applies internal process how to identify risks properly at early stage of project Prepares presentations supporting documents eg simplified drawings
to improve the understanding by others Considering the position and role
the employee is required to perform reasonable and temporally any other job-related duties assigned by their supervisor or management


Key skills & experience
Proficiency in Excel MS Word MS Project or equivalent

  • PowerPoint Working knowledge of various computer aided design programs and analysis programs Good skills to analyze and develop specifications Drawings
layouts and other technical documentation

  • Understanding of shipbuilding project and programming processes Operational knowledge of SOLAS IMO
classification rules and marine standards Fluency in English
other languages as advantage

  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • Good skills for communication and cooperation in multicultural working environment
  • Willingness to travel

Qualifications
M Sc

  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineer or equivalent with minimum 5 years of experience in the field of cruise shipbuilding industry
