Within the Group and SCOR SE Accounting Department the Reporting Standards Centre of Excellence team has been created.

The role of Head of Reporting Standards Centre of Excellence, within the Finance function and Group and SCOR SE Accounting Departiment, will have a broad remit, including the following functions:

  • Acts as a senior advisor the Group and SCOR SE accounting officer on all accounting topics (technical, non-technical, investments and actuarial) within a multi-norm framework and perspective including expertise in the following standards relevant to

SCOR:
IFRS 17, FGAAP, LDTI, key local GAAPs relevant to SCOR and Solvency II. The position will have close relations with the regional and local CFOs as well

  • Identifies opportunities for transformation, simplification, accounting production synergies and accounting standards/practice alignment through active analysis and investigation of existing practices/current accounting standards and their implementation in the end to end accounting chain.
  • Provides internal consulting services which enable the objectives of key related finance missions to be achieved including the missions of the other departments: Business Performance and Reserving, ALM, Capital Management, Investment Partners,etc while still ensuring accounting compliance.
The role while based in Paris, may require occasional travel across SCOR Regions (APAC, Americas, EMEA).

  • Team Management: Management of the Reporting Standards Centre of Excellence team based in Paris with IFRS 17 and FGAAP expertise and also in the regions with local GAAP and IFRS 17 expertise, on technical and nontechnical accounting matters.
  • Group Accounting Policies: Ownership of the Group accounting policies for FGAAP and IFRS standards
  • Internal accounting centre of expertise: Provision of internal consulting services to other key areas of SCOR include Life Business, P&C Business, ALM, Business Performance, and Legal entity reporting teams to support financial management and strategic initiatives on technical and nontechnical accounting matters
  • Support finance decision making: Development of solutions with business partners to support financial management and strategic initiatives desired by the business and/or the finance function including but not limited to, structured transactions, new products, financial solutions, deals, internal financial optimization, business flow optimization, etc
  • Support Transformation and simplification: Actively seek, identify and develop opportunities within the accounting standards for alignment between FGAAP and IFRS 17 to support the Transformation and Simplification programs objective of simplified and rationalized finance processes, finding efficiencies and synergies in the current operational production landscape within the end to end accounting chain. Similarly, for other local GAAPS (non French GAAPS) and IFRS 17, seek to remove non essential reporting differences through a proactive interpretation of the standards and reviews of existing accounting implementations in all entities.
  • Lead the Accounting team's involvements in internal programs and projects relating to accounting methodology topics: Current programs include Solvency II and IFRS 17 alignment, US LDTI (new accounting standard implementation), Risk adjustment methodology review by Business Performance team, IFRS 17 stabilization (resolution of pending methodology items or SAD topics), etc.
  • Develop accounting knowledge and manage and retain accounting expertise inhouse through proactive regulatory watch activity and research, global networking, international participation in relevant professional and industry forums and representation of SCOR on strategic accounting topics in person or via written communications including but not limited to CFO Forum, France Assureurs, Association Nationale des Comptables (ANC),etc.
  • Develop a lobbying strategy on strategic reporting and accounting topics, in close conjunction with Investor Relations and Regulatory Affairs on key topics for lobbying and in the interests to SCOR and use means as appropriate to represent SCOR on such matters. Where possible, influencing regulatory and other decision making bodies, before decisions are made which would be suboptimal for SCOR.
  • Manage, oversee and lead accounting due diligence work as and when required on M&As, Large and Complex Transactions and other deals perfomed by SCOR
  • Coordination of key accounting topics for auditors and audit committee: Management and coordination of the audit relationship on accounting topics and the content for the quarterly group audit committee relating to accounting topics and accounting matters.
  • Second level review and governance: Contribute to the quality of the accounting deliverables and ensuring reporting compliance by reviewing and participating in the governance of key Finance deliverables such as narrative reports and the URD with a focus on accounting and reporting matters
