    About the job

    General objective:

    The Logistician carries out logistics management of his/her base, in compliance with donor and SI procedures.
    He/she implements and supervises all logistics operations at his/her assigned base.
    He/she organizes logistic support for programs, in compliance with SI procedures.
    He/she assists the field coordinator in the implementation of safety rules.
    He/she supports, monitors and trains the members of his/her team.

    The main challenges:

  • Due to the ongoing conflict, the SI mission in Sudan has significantly increased its activities and funding (from , USD at the end of March to over 15 million USD in for ).
  • Administrative obstacles in Eastern Sudan, in particular
  • Remote work while awaiting visa
  • Opening of Khartoum
  • Priorities for the 2/3 first months:

  • Support the log scale-up of the Khartoum/Madani opening
  • Monitor the opening of the Khartoum/Al Jazeera base
  • Monitor the opening of Khartoum base
  • Ensure good set-up, follow-up and training of the support team
  • Maintain good relationship with local authorities
  • In charge of the supplies to be send to Khartoum, procurement (local or international)
  • Your profile

    Education / academic background:

  • Bachelor or Masters degree in related field (business, international relations, etc)
  • Specific skills and experience:

  • 3-4 years experience in the humanitarian sector
  • 3-4 years on a similar position
  • Strong experience in procurement, supplies and storage in conflict area
  • Experience in supporting base openings in open conflict context
  • Experience in team management and capacity building of team members
  • Work under pressure
  • Adaptability
  • Strong initiative capacities
  • Language:

  • Fluent English
  • French is an advantage
  • Arabic would be a strong asset

    A salaried position: According to experience, starting from EUR gross per month ( base salary + 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly) and a monthly Per Diem of USD .

    SI also covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's country of origin and the place of assignment.

    Breaks: During the assignment, a system of alternation between work and time off is implemented at the rate of 7 working days every three months (with a USD break allowance, allocated by Sl). To these breaks periods, SI grants one additional rest day per month worked.

    Insurance package: Expatriates benefit from an insurance package which refunds all healthcare expenses (including medical and surgical expenses, dental care and ophthalmological expenses, repatriation) and a welfare system including war risks. Essential vaccination and antimalarial treatment costs are refunded.

  • Individual, comfortable room in the guesthouse, with electricity 24/7.

  • Restaurants and international food are available
  • Living conditions in N'Djamenaare very good with an easy access to a wide range of restaurants, cafes...

    Security risks are low, and restrictions are very limited.

    However, when going on the field bases, living conditions are more basic, with fewer opportunities for socialization, as well as some individual movements' restrictions. Security levels vary according to the different geographical locations and changes of context.
