What you will do


As a simulation engineer apprentice, you will have the chance to learn from experienced engineers, develop your skills and knowledge, and contribute to the success of our projects.

You will also have the opportunity to work on different aspects of system simulation, such as modeling, validation, optimization, and visualization.


Your main assignment will be working on improving simulation processes to facilitate the collaboration between software in the loop (SIL) and hardware in the loop (HIL) simulation teams.

For this, as a simulation engineer apprentice, you will:

  • Learn about our technology and products in a ramp-up phase. You will get familiar with our simulation tools and methods, as well as our powertrain systems and components, including battery electric vehicles and conventional diesel technology.
  • Identify and implement solutions to improve the simulation processes and tools. You will analyze the current workflow and challenges and propose innovative and efficient ways to enhance the simulation quality and performance at the system level.
  • Document and present your work and results. You will write clear and concise reports and presentations and share your findings and recommendations with the team and the stakeholders.

Your future team
You will be part of the Data & Simulation team, in the Powertrain Engineering department, in Lyon.

Our core mission is to accelerate powertrain engineering through the design, development and maintenance of complete systems using our cutting-edge digital technologies: Data Science & Simulation.

We are also helping our department mature and evolve in its transformation to be more data-driven.

In our team, we are 8 engineers, driven by curiosity, and it is important for us to think outside the box and try new things to be as successful as possible.

Finally, we firmly believe that a united team that is passionate about what it does is the key to an efficient and quality work environment.

You are curious, eager to learn, open-minded and you are always willing to explore new ideas and solutions.

Passionate by simulation, you have an engagement to transform theory into attractive models or tool solutions to be able to deliver as business value.

You are a team player with drive to change through collaboration, co-operation, sharing insights, solutions and ideas.

Other requirements for the position are:

  • Engineering or MSc Student in powertrain engineering, signal control, or related fields
  • Good understanding of the structure and function of powertrain systems and components (such as engine, transmission, electric motor, battery, etc.)
  • One experience in technical school project or personal technical project related to simulation.
  • Matlab/Simulink and similar tools
  • Communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Fluency in French/English (international and multicultural environment)

As a plus:
Github, Jira, Python, Knowledge in Electronics, or Experience of any innovation methodology
