Post-Doctoral position in powder compression F/H - Bordeaux, France - Université de Bordeaux

    Default job background
    Description

    Employeur

Are you interested in studying the powder compression process on a rotary press?

Join the Institute of Mechanics and Engineering (I2M Bordeaux) - at the University of Bordeaux

Bordeaux is a mechanical engineering research center. The team in the MPI ( Materials, Processes, Interactions) department is conducting research into the compression of pharmaceutical powders.

In this context, we are looking for a Post-Doctoral position on the study of the powder compression process within the STRAP project.

    Votre mission

The proposed post-doc position is part of a Franco-German ANR project called STRAP (Scale TRAnsfer in Pharmaceutical compression) in collaboration with the Technical university of Braunschweig.

The STRAP project aims to better analyze the differences between the tableting performed on rotary presses and on compaction simulators in order to better understand scale-up problems. It will systematically focus on the two main aspects: first the filling stage and second the compression stage. The study of the compression stage will be performed at the I2M Bordeaux and constitute the subject of this post-doc.

On the one hand, it will be a question of characterizing the real behavior of the presses and on the other hand of understanding how these different aspects can influence the final properties of the tablets.

This project should make it possible to develop thorough knowledge on the problems of scaling up and troubleshooting associated with the pharmaceutical compression process.

As a Post-Doctoral position, your activities will focus on several areas:

    1. Experimental and numerical study of a rotary press.

  • You will measure the displacement of the punches during the cycle.
  • You measure the deformation of the machine
  • Numerical modeling of machine deformation
  • 2. Comparison between rotary press and compression simulator

  • Make a comparison using theoretical curves and understand the differences.
  • 3. Study the impact of simulator/press differences on tablet properties

  • You study the impact on tablet properties and on the appearance of defects.
  • Vos atouts / Vos talents

Holder of a PhD in Mechanics, mechanical engineering or material sciences. PhD in pharmaceutics is also possible if it was with a strong focus on solid dosage form/tablets. More specifically,

  • You have a sound knowledge of mechanics/mechanical engineering/materials science or powder processing by die-compression .
  • You also have knowledge in numerical simulation (FEM) (preferably Abaqus) and/or Digital Image Correlation.
  • You have an appetite for precise experimental work
  • You are fluent in English (written and spoken, good level).
  • Supervision of trainees is envisaged for this position.
  • Do you recognize yourself ? Apply
