Department

The Paris Middle Office is responsible for controlling the OSG contracts with EDF Group. It acts as a liaison between multiple EDFT departments in Paris and London and EDF Group entities.

Paris Middle Office also supports the Short-term trading desks and is responsible for the Paris based P&Ls and reporting for management.

Position purpose


To work with the Middle Office Manager to ensure that the OSG contracts are running smoothly, that all reporting is correct and on time, and to provide support the Short-term trading teams.

Main responsibilities

  • Calculation and Validation of Paris based and OSG P&L's
  • Ensuring the accurate capture and validation of trades
  • Publication of reporting to the trading desks and Management
  • Managing the OSG Contracts with EDF Group entities, and resolving any differences/issues
  • Supporting the Shortterm trading desks
  • Working with Power Operations and EDF to resolve any mismatches
  • Integrating any new business into current processes
  • Monthly reconciliations with EDF Group entities
  • Assisting the Middle Office Manager with ad hoc projects
  • Automating and adding additional controls into current processes
Experience required

  • Experience of Accounting or previous roles in Middle or Back Office functions would be beneficial
  • A background in an Energy Company and an understanding of physical energy deliveries and the OTC trade processing lifecycle would be an advantage
Technical requirements

  • Fluent in French and English
  • Degree Qualification with relevant 15 years of experience in Energy or financial operations
  • Understanding of accounting principles
  • IT skills, especially Excel / VBA/ Pivots. Power BI knowledge would also be useful
  • Strong Analytical Skills
Person specification

  • Strong problemsolving skills with the ability to prioritise tasks while maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal in both English and French
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Have a proactive approach and the ability to work independently and complete tasks without supervision

Hours of work:
8.30am - 5.30pm / 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
