    We are a leading logistics company, operating across Western Europe, with a strong presence in France, Spain, Belgium, and Italy. With approximately 40 sites equipped with mechanized sorting systems, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join us as the Head of Maintenance. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in implementing "Total Productive Maintenance" (TPM) across our facilities within the next two years, and will also oversee the introduction and integration of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

    Job Description

    As the Head of Automation, you will be responsible for leading the automation initiatives within our company's international engineering department. Your primary focus will be on optimizing parcel sorting processes across various sites throughout Europe, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and seamless integration with existing operations. This role requires a combination of strategic planning, project management, technical expertise, and effective collaboration with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Needs Assessment: Collaborate with country Chief Operating Officers (COOs) to gather requirements for automation projects.
  • ROI Analysis: Conduct simulations to evaluate Return on Investment (ROI) for each automation project, considering local processes and labor costs.
  • Design and Adaptation: Design and adapt previous sorter designs and technologies to suit the specific requirements of each new project and building.
  • Blueprint Creation: Manage the creation of 3D/2D blueprints for new projects and validate them with operations teams.
  • Procurement Management: Partner with the procurement team to manage the purchase of sorters, including direct procurement of subsystems and integration between companies.
  • RFQ and Legal Documentation: Adapt and manage Request for Quotation (RFQ) files then legal contracts for each site and project, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Site Installations: Oversee site installations, address facility manager questions, and ensure smooth implementation of automation systems.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct reception tests and follow-up on any necessary corrections to ensure the functionality and quality of installed systems.
  • Supplier and Technology Evaluation: Regularly evaluate potential new suppliers and emerging technologies relevant to automation in the parcel delivery industry.
  • Reporting: Prepare monthly reports to the group level, providing updates on project progress, financial performance, and key metrics
  • Remote (Europe-based) with regular travel to sites and supplier meetings

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Automation, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven experience in automation project management, preferably within the logistics or parcel delivery sector.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess ROI and optimize processes.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills for managing supplier relationships and collaborating with internal stakeholders.
  • Fluency in both English and French languages, both written and spoken, is mandatory. Italian and Spanish are a plus.
  • Ability to travel regularly within Europe for site visits and supplier meetings.
  • Experience in budget management and financial reporting.
  • Familiarity with emerging automation technologies and trends.
  • Proficiency in CAD software for blueprint creation and design validation is a plus.
