NOV-APL, founded in 1993, is one of the world's leading providers of innovative technologies for offshore oil and gas production and transfer.

Its foundation was based on the need for a reliable mooring and fluid transfer system in harsh environments offshore Norway and the UK.

Today, APL technology offers solutions for harsh environments, benign waters, and shallow and deep water, with more than 90 loading systems and 80 turret mooring systems delivered worldwide.


At NOV-APL, we have a strong group of individuals making up our Business Development Department, who's main task is to do exactly that We are now looking for an equally strong individual to join this group of 10 people as Area Sales Manager - Europe & Africa and help NOV-APL grow its market share by supporting its sales efforts.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify potential new clients and build relationships with them.
  • Maintain good relationships with existing clients.
  • Recommend if a bid will be issued or if APL shall decline to bid. Final approval to be given by VPBD.
  • Involve the Technology Department as necessary to do the first conceptual review. Decide on important issues such as, type of system, definition of new development etc. The decision from this conceptual review will be basis for the tender kick off meeting.
  • Propose commercial strategy incl. currency, terms of payment, milestones, etc.
  • Request the assistance of a Proposal Manager (PsM) from VPBD.
  • Propose sales price and the margin and get it approved by VPBD. Price in currency (e.g. USD/NOK/EUR) with qualified exchange rates at tender date to be adjusted upon contract award.
  • Final review of the quality and completeness of the APL bid submission
  • Initiating a Tender Kick Off Meetings, Tender Early Concept Review, Tender Review and APL Management Tender Review.
  • Prepare and initiate Risk Assessment documentation in D365 for NOV CAPS upper management for bids valued 10 MUSD and above.
  • Ensure that a power of attorney is in place if this should be required for bids and contracts exceeding the VPBD's authorization.
  • Ensure an NDA between APL and the Client is established, as and when required.
  • Prequalification of APL and ensure APL is on the bidders list.
  • From client relations, involve the Technology Department if a demand requires new technology.
  • Encouraging innovation within NOV APL.
  • Participate in NOV cross business unit sales initiatives as required.
  • Particular attention to reflect upon customers that NOV APL solutions is freely available to the industry:
  • For prospects in his/her assigned area up to Contract signature.
  • For putting together the proposals of NOV APL using the expertise of the other departments.
  • For the quality and completeness of the NOV APL submission.
  • For maintenance and update of the information relative to his area on regular basis.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree Business / Economics / Engineering

EXPERIENCE

  • After a few years of experience with engineering or project management, a minimum of 5 years' experience in Sales/Business Development in the Offshore Oil/Gas, Energy or Renewable/Low-Carbon Industries.

SKILLS, TRAINING AND SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE

  • Excellent understanding of the technical, contractual, and commercial aspects of Offshore Technology, Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation contracts.
  • Structured and analytical skills.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage negotiations in a solution oriented
- and constructive fashion.

  • Ability to transform a problem into a challenge/solution.
  • Good interpersonal and communications (written and verbal) skill.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Fluent in oral and written English language. An additional language is a plus.
