Position : LHVBL Project Manager

Organization

  • Function : LHV Project Manager
  • Scope: UK/Ireland
  • Location : on site or Edinburgh branch office
  • Supervisor : LHVBL UK/Ireland Project Delivery Manager

Context

  • After receiving a PO or a Contract from our customers, a Project Manager (PM) is assigned to execute the project, from the beginning of the design engineering to the final acceptance from the Client of the delivered and installed equipment.
  • The PM possibly works with a Site Manager and benefits from the support located in the branch office (QHSE, QS, Document Control) and in the back office (Engineering, Logistics, Invoicing).

Purpose

  • Manages the project, from the start of the engineering phase to the final acceptance from the customer.
  • Manages the execution team based on site, deal with the local CW contractor and manage their activities on the projects
  • Claim management
  • Responsible for the financial result of the projects: Secure/improve the project results, inform about the sales and projects outlooks (sales figures, results)
  • Is the unique or main contact concerning the project for the customer and for Nexans' management

Areas of responsibility

  • Customer interface
  • Customer visits, on site, inspections, meetings
  • Organizes official communications, letters, monthly reports
  • Fosters a trustworthy & open climate with consultants and customers
  • Makes him/herself available and is reactive when special requests
  • Contract management
  • Gets a comprehensive understanding of the contract
  • Identifies critical items in the contract risk assessment
  • Is rigorous when applies the contract and takes into account specificities
  • Evaluate potential deviations between tender and execution
  • Prepare contracts for subcontractors with legal department
  • Project management
  • Prepares monthly and quarterly Project reviews
  • Follows and updates the Project management system
  • Followsup the technical, financial (budget, turnover, and invoicing) part of the project
  • Prepares the project planning and follow it up
  • Coordinates manufacturing & planning to avoid any delay
  • Gives feedback to all relevant units for continuous improvement
  • REX
  • Gives all necessary information from plants to site teams
  • Prepares the site team arrival (logistics)
  • Puts in place all necessary tools to follow up and quantify site progress
  • Conducts all QHSE activities (plan, implementation, control, administration)
  • To comply with the Group Code of Ethics and particularly implementation of the Group rules and policies related to the relations with agents and consultants, competition law, the annual actions of the Ethics Compliance Program
  • Interface with jointers and project team
  • Drives the local team in order to make the site progress
  • Solves problems as they occur and take corrective actions
  • Ensures people performance on professionalism on site
  • Interface with installation engineering teams
  • Define technical needs & coordinate priorities
  • Establish engineering time schedule with milestones & deliverables
  • Control & approve schematic diagrams, support systems documents, installation methods documents
  • Validate follow up and manage orders of subcontracted materials
  • Approve lengths of cables to be produced
  • Interface with cable engineering (in Calais or in plants)
  • Supervise & approve technical definition of cables, documentation for electrical calculations
  • Coordinate sample tests and type tests
  • Interface with cable manufacturing AND with accessories manufacturing
  • Plants
  • Make sure technical specs & inspections are respected
  • Order cable manufacturing
  • Follow manufacturing planning
  • Coordinate logistics for delivery with transportation department & with the plants
  • Attend factory acceptance tests with customer

Position sizing

  • Project Value : 0,3 to 100 M€

Required skills and qualifications

  • Educated as engineer and ideally as project manager
  • Prior experience as project manager for at least 1 year often more depending on size of project allocated to her/him.
  • Strong entrepreneurship
  • Common sense, and organisation skills
