In this role, you will be responsible for providing leadership, expertise and strategic counseling in Business Law for Sephora's operations for France and for European and Global projects.

You will lead a team based in Neuilly sur Seine (8 lawyers) and will report to the Global General Counsel.


You will closely partner with (i) legal teams specialized in digital, IT, data privacy, intellectual property, regulatory, corporate, Ethics & Compliance and (ii) Sephora's legal teams worldwide (iii) business stakeholders in all regions.

Be responsible for providing strategic counseling on business issues and projects.


With you team, you will:

  • Draft and negotiate commercial agreements such as: distribution, logistics & transport, service/consulting contracts and shop in shop partnerships,
  • Support purchasing teams in their annual negotiations with suppliers
  • Provide legal advice and risk analysis to the marketing and communication teams for all communications to consumers with all relevant local legal and regulatory laws and guidelines_ _
  • Manage investigations from public authorities
  • Define the strategy for drafting and negotiating the leases agreements, their renewal, amendments, the transfers of a leasehold right. Support the operational staff in daytoday property management
  • Manage prelitigations and litigations
  • Handle the delegations of authority (_délégations de pouvoirs_) process
  • Monitor new regulations and develop legal awareness and understanding for the business teams


Enhance the Sephora's competition compliance program and strengthen the awareness of business teams on legal requirements to prevent unfair business commercial practices to consumers.

Coach and support lawyers in your team and developing a highly skilled and collaborative team.

Animate and develop synergies in business law topics with all the Sephora's legal teams worldwide.

  • A Master's degree in Business Law
  • A minimum of 15 years' relevant experience, preferably with significant experience within a large omni retail company and/or of the luxury sector.
  • Strong working knowledge of French & UE regulations concerning competition laws, unfair businesstoconsumer commercial practices, environmental constraints, lease agreements.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in leading and managing a team and demonstrated experience in managing multicultural partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver practical guidance clearly and concisely, assess legal risks and propose creative practical legally and commercially viable solutions, as a key business partner.
  • Consistent track of record for being proactive, while managing multiple and complex projects, and prioritizing matters for yourself & your team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, good judgment, strong analytical skills, flexible and pragmatic, both French and English.
  • Good team spirit and _collaboration_ skills with experience collaborating with internal clients and outside counsels to assess issues and risks and leading complex crossfunctional initiatives up, down, and across teams,
  • A strong ability to engage and inspire around you generating continued commitment to Sephora's goals on compliance with regulations and fairness in our practices, and successfully enrolling your partners globally on shared objectives
  • Proven experience influencing enterprisewide projects and initiatives, and translating broad challenges into tangible roadmaps with short and mid term milestones
