Your role
As a Mail Distribution Sector Operator, you will be responsible for:
receiving and sorting mail from the Directorates/Departments;
processing outgoing mail (normal, express and freight): mail processing, processing of registered mail;
mastering our service providers' software in order to enter information without error (costs and data from weighing
operations) that will enable shipments to be re-invoiced to the Directorates/Departments;
checking/correcting the filling in of registered mail counterfoils deposited by the Directorates/Departments;
carrying out daily statements of mail and express deliveries;
calling on freight service providers, selecting the best bidder according to urgency, weight/volume and destination;
maintaining relations with internal customers;
working closely with external service providers (mail, express and freight);
registering and preparing publication orders and ensuring regular stocktaking.

You will also be involved in the following tasks:
processing of incoming mail (sorting and distribution);
distribution of mail, documents and other items on the floors of the

preparation of files for internal or external meetings;
support in scanning, photocopying, issuing, printing and sending mail;
file handling tasks.


Particular attention is paid to the fact that this type of job requires the handling of pallets and heavy parcels.

What we are looking for

You must:
have a minimum of one year's relevant professional experience;
have a very good knowledge of one of the two official languages of the
knowledge of the other (English/French) or ability to learn it quickly;
be a citizen of one of the member States of the
service of that state;
have discharged any obligation concerning national service (military, civil or comparable);
not be the parent, child, stepchild or grandchild of a serving staff member of the

not have previously been employed by the
profile/Turnover Workforce Scheme (see conditions below).

Demonstrate to us that you have the following competencies:

Professional and technical expertise:
- experience of mail management tasks (procedures, systems, techniques and tools) ;
- ability to use standard IT tools (office automation, databases and other specific software);
- ability to visualise and analyse quickly, on paper and electronically, typed or handwritten documents in different

European languages, in order to extract the essential information.

What we offer
If successful, you may be offered employment based on a renewable fixed-term contract for a
maximum total duration of

four years at grade C1/C2. In Strasbourg, you will receive a basic monthly gross salary of €2 802 (grade C1) or €3 097 (grade

C2) which is exempt from national income tax. This salary may be supplemented by other allowances depending on your

personal situation. You will benefit from the

annual leave, and other advantages (including flexible working hours, training and development, possibility of teleworking if

applicable, etc.).

This competition is carried out in accordance with Article 4110 of the Staff Rules. People recruited under this article are not

eligible for any subsequent internal competition or secondment, nor shall they be re-appointed under the Scheme. They can
