Renaissance Fusion is the first Magnetic Confinement Fusion company in the EU. We are building the first net-energy producing stellarator by combining proprietary innovations in modular design, the manufacturing of
next-generation High-Temperature Superconducting (HTS) magnets, and liquid walls. We are forming a team of the brightest, most driven scientists and engineers to realize and commercialize our non-fusion HTS magnets within 2 years, and fusion magnets and integrated fusion solutions within 10 years.

We are looking for an experienced and talented Building Manager to manage and continuously adapt our laboratory, offices, and facilities to our growing activity while ensuring the highest level of safety and security.
Our team is young, agile, international and based in the exciting city of Grenoble, by the French Alps.


Responsibilities
The building manager will take on both individual and collective responsibilities.


Individual:


Insourced work

  • Safely and comfortably arrange offices for new employees (ergonomic chairs, appropriate illumination etc.).
  • Set up the necessary health and safety measures in the building and comply with French regulations.
  • Regularly inspect the building to determine the need for repairs, renovations and upgrades

Example:
reinforced floor for heavy equipment.

  • Make small electrical, mechanical and plumbing installations, repairs, replacements and upgrades

Examples:

neon lights, glass dividers, laboratory curtains, water and compressed air manifolds, electric conduits and outlets, doors and windows' keylocks, panic doors, furniture and lab-bench assembly, installation of white boards, projectors etc., occasional paint-jobs, including at height or on asphalt.


  • Control activities like parking space allocation, waste disposal, building security etc.
  • Ensure security and emergency preparedness, e.g. in case of fire.
  • Supervise all facilities staff (electricians, technicians, cleaning staff etc.).

Outsourced work

  • Recommend maintenance, mechanical, electrical, and facility modifications that cannot be realized by internal staff. Identify external contractors and negotiate contracts.
  • Plan, coordinate and review all installations (electrical supply, water supply, ventilation, heating, exhaust, machine/crane installation, offices, concrete, refectory, etc.) by external contractors.
  • Arrange for external instructors to periodically give training to all internal personnel on fire extinguishers, first aid, CPR etc. Where appropriate, arrange for specialistic training, e.g. on working at heights, in confined spaces etc.
  • Review and manage insurance plans and service contracts.
  • Handle utility bills. Review consumption and strive to minimize costs.
  • Be the pointofcontact with the building owner, their building management team and contractors, as well as with neighbours, for instance for costsharing of works of common interest.
  • Forecast, allocate, and supervise the financial and physical resources of the facility management.

As a team member:


  • Work with the management to define and update the office layout.
  • Work with the technical leaders and teammembers to define and update the laboratory layout, including the supply and exhaust of water, electricity, compressed air, etc. to machines and experiments.

  • Be the internal and external pointofcontact for buildingrelated questions. Anticipate questions and needs. Proactively communicate planned works and workplace safety precautions.

Qualifications -essential:


  • Professional experience
  • 5+ years of experience in managing a building with offices, machines & testing equipment.
  • 3+ years of experience in managing suppliers & site works.
  • Education
  • CAP/BAC/Bachelor's in electrical or mechanical engineering, or facility management.
  • Language requirements
  • Fluent in French (C2)
  • Very good English (B2 minimum)
  • Technical and personal qualities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of French work & environmental regulations
  • Electrical accreditation (low voltage)
  • Ability to enforce safety & security
  • Ability to understand people's needs, propose & set up solutions
  • Great timemanagement, organization, prioritization and coordination abilities

Qualifications -desirable:


  • Experience in/with
  • Large engineering projects and/or physics experiments, e.g. in national labs
  • Troubleshooting and repairing closedloop refrigeration systems for HVAC and Process Chilled Water.
  • Operations in semiconductor or other film deposition industry: clean rooms, material deposition systems, wet processing, and associated metrology.
  • Accreditation for overhead crane and /or forklift (« Certificat d'aptitude à la conduite en sécurité », or CACES)
