About the research centre or Inria department

The Inria research centre in Lyon is the 9th Inria research centre, formally created in January 2022. It brings together approximately 320 people in 19 research teams and research support services. Its staff are distributed in Villeurbanne, Lyon Gerland, and Saint-Etienne. The Lyon centre is active in the fields of software, distributed and high-performance computing, embedded systems, quantum computing and privacy in the digital world, but also in digital health and computational biology.

Context

Position Overview

We are seeking a Research Engineer to develop an algorithm capable of tracking cellular lineages at the individual scale while modeling key macroscopic dynamics. The originality of this project is to leverage similarities between cellular lineages in the hematopoietic niche and the oral mucosa, and yet address essential differences (regulation in hematopoiesis ; spatial component in oral mucosa), to attain an actionable algorithm. The interest of this algorithm is that it will allow to numerically simulate various scenarios of mutant emergence, and to correlate these scenarios with clinically observed patient symptoms.

The selected candidate will work at ENS Lyon under the direct supervision of Céline Bonnet (CRCL/Inria Lyon) and will collaborate closely with two Biology teams:

CRCL (Lyon), focusing on oral mucosa research, under the leadership of Pierre Saintigny.

IRSL (Paris, Institut de Recherche St Louis), studying acute myeloid leukemia (AML) under the leadership of Raphaël Itzykson.

Remuneration

From €2,692 gross monthly (depending on experience and qualifications).

Instruction to apply
