Job Opportunity:

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for a Casualty Underwriter to join our team in Paris.

This position will be a great fit for an experienced Casualty Underwriter with a minimum of 5 years' experience, looking to expand responsibilities and underwriting knowledge as well as grow a book of business.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the accurate evaluation, selection, and pricing of Casualty risk
• Strong technical underwriting skills, extensive knowledge of rating tools and ability to work with actuaries when required
• Underwrite and grow profitable book of business within the established underwriting guidelines
• Proactive interaction and maintaining relationships with brokers and customers
• Identify and develop new business pipelines and manage renewal retention to meet and exceed financial plans
• Work with cross functional teams in development and execution of business
• Be a team player and ready to undertake additional tasks and projects in support of the overall objectives of the BHSI
• Support management in developing strategies to drive profitable results in line with department objectives.
• Assist on product/price benchmarking in the market and feedback on product enhancements
• Advocate BHSI's culture and values and uphold our reputation in the market

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years Casualty underwriting experience
• Strong underwriting acumen
• Experience and strong understanding of policy forms, including broker manuscripts
• High level of interpersonal and negotiation skills. Ability to demonstrate sales, marketing, and relationship building experience
• Ability to work in and adapt to a dynamic, rapidly changing environment
• Ability to manage workload effectively, especially during peak seasonal periods
• Law Degree or equivalent technical education, and/or strong insurance qualifications
