Description

The role which the GCAO function is looking to fill will have a broad remit, including coordination and production activities across technical accounting, financial analysis, quarterly governance with a wide range of both internal and external stakeholders, in the central finance teams and other functions such as IT, Data, Transformation Office.

The role will be in close relation with counterparts managing the respective local closing processes and other project teams.

The role while based in Paris, and may require occassional and infrequent travel across SCOR Regions (APAC, Americas, EMEA). Travel can be planned around competing work and personal commitments, so that it is manageable and appropriate.


Key duties and responsibilities
1/ Produce and coordinate the delivery of high quality and timely quarterly group results:
Maintain a high-quality control framework for life technical closings and bookings and ensure appropriate documentation is effective (internally and for audit purposes)

Develop and maintain central team expertise on the differences between parent and local ledgers, ledger alignment topics and systems issues related to parent-local ledger management for life business

Develop and maintain central team expertise on the data flows and interfaces between all the systems in the end to end accounting chain and secure the financial review and audit trails


Ensure full reconciliation between accounting information booked into all the systems in the end to end accounting chain and secure the financial review and audit trails, after all system developments.


2/ Contribute to drafting and review of accounting and technical memos, as well as the production of business requirements, as required by evolving methodologies and the business needs to strengthen the IFRS 17 stabilisation and optimise the end to end accounting chain production.


3/ Develop a testing framework and implement system testing after all changes made in the end to end life accounting system.


4/ Support decision making and controlling: invest time in continuous process improvement to automate all reconciliations, controls and reporting and reduce manual intervention in the end to end accounting chain.

**Required experience & competencies


Experience:


  • 35 years post qualification experience in the insurance of financial services sector.
  • Have financial audit experience, with an understanding of audit processes and financial controls.
  • Experience of IFRS 17 reporting requirements Very good understanding of actuarial and risk matter of interests

Personal Competencies:


  • A strong technical accounting skillset.
  • The ability to effectively engage and support senior stakeholders, considerate of stakeholder interests and culture differences.
  • Precision, attention to detail Analytical skills

Digital Competencies:


  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills
  • Knowledge of SAS, SAP and OMEGA is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience of working with process automation software and/or large data or data manipulation is desirable but not essential. Experience in any programming language or skills is desirable but not essential.

Managerial competencies:


  • Ability to adapt to change and be flexible in their way of working
  • Good communicator

Required Education

  • Business, Finance, Accounting or IT qualifications (minimum of 3 years post high school)

Languages

  • English and French (full proficiency)
