The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is an international organisation comprised of 38 member countries, that works to build better policies for better lives.

Our mission is to promote policies that will improve the economic and social well-being of people around the world.

Together with governments, policy makers and citizens, we work on establishing evidence-based international standards, and finding solutions to a range of social, economic and environmental challenges.

From improving economic performance and creating jobs to fostering strong education and fighting international tax evasion, we provide a unique forum and knowledge hub for data and analysis, exchange of experiences, best-practice sharing, and advice on public policies and international standard-setting.

The Directorate for Science, Technology and Innovation (STI), in line with the strategic objectives of the Secretary-General, helps OECD member countries and other key economies build an environment conducive to translating science, technology and knowledge into innovation in order to create economic and social value added.

In June 2020 Canada and France, joined by 13 other founding members, launched the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) to enhance multi-stakeholder cooperation in the advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The Secretariat for this new initiative is hosted at the OECD, with a view to underpinning synergies between the efforts of GPAI to assess scientific, technical and socioeconomic evidence relevant to understanding the impacts of AI and the work of the OECD to provide multi-disciplinary, evidence-based policy analysis on AI.
