Context:


Expertise Center Global Market Analysis is supporting GEMS and ENGIE in understanding the key market drivers for all commodities especially natural gas, power, oil, coal and CO2 emissions.


The Long Term Gas market analyst will be part an extended team of market analysts and data scientists who sit on the trading floor.

He/She will report to the leader of market analysis team of EC GMA.


Key missions:


The Long Term Gas Market analyst will focus on delivering long term and worldwide gas balance in order to support establishing on long term gas prices in the framework of ENGIE corporate price scenarios.

Those scenarios are designed to build pathways for world energy markets for decarbonization.


GEMS is playing a key role in helping Group defining key set of assumptions to build trajectories for gas prices until 2050.


  • He/She will use internal tools and models to analyze the evolution of long term gas supply & demand balances to support establishing of long term gas prices.
  • He/She will be involved in modelling of hydrogen market future balances as it will be a key driver for both gas & power long term prices.
  • He/She will be accountable for the set of assumptions used, coordination of internal GEMS teams located outside Europe, in order to align scenarios of price development in Americas or Asia Pacific with local teams.
  • He/She will be connected with market analysts team in Europe in order to understand the short and midterm drivers for gas market evolution.

Role:


  • Run long term gas & hydrogen modelling toolbox, manage set of assumptions and explain models outcome, by stressing out key risk factors;
  • Collaborate with ENGIE Corporate Strategy and ENGIE impact in the process of updating long term gas & power prices;
  • Collect data to develop and maintain fundamental models and contribute to data quality implementation;
  • Liaise and coordinate with market analysis in all countries where GEMS is active;
  • Develop and maintain market data, analysis, recurrent reports and presentations;
  • Promote team spirit and collaboration.

Travels:


Travels to meet teams of market analysts where GEMS is present worldwide (Australia, United States, Mexico, Chile, Spain, Italy, United Kingdom, Romania).


Hard skills:


  • Must have: gas market analysis, analytical & programming skills (python);
  • Good to have: ability to use complex models.

Soft skills:


  • Must have: reactivitiy, creativity, autonomy, team spirit;
  • Good to have: clear and effective communication both written and verbal, ability to explain and convey messages about complex issues and models, ability to cope with tight deadlines.

Education and professional background:

Master degree or PhD in relevant area (engineering, mathematics, physics, etc).


Languages:

French, English compulsory.
