Description

My client are seeking a Principal Scientist specialised in Biology to assess therapeutic targets and expedite the development of drug candidates you will report into their COO.

Responsibilities

• Assess therapeutic targets to initiate promising drug discovery projects.
• Provide scientific and strategic insights to enhance our internal portfolio, including evaluating mechanism of action and identifying unmet medical needs.
• Collaborate with our tech platform to refine target sourcing and assessment strategies, enhancing target identification algorithms.
• Support drug discovery programs through biology research and assay design.
• Offer biological expertise and interpret experimental results throughout the drug discovery process.
• Collaborate with Contract Research Organizations (CROs) and identify additional resources to support our drug discovery pipeline.

Skills Required

• PhD in Biological Science, with a minimum of 10 years of industry experience.
• Broad understanding of scientific and business challenges in life sciences, preferably across different industry sectors such as pharma, biotech, or CRO.
• Deep understanding of the drug discovery process, particularly for small molecule drugs, with hands-on experience across various stages.
• Strong expertise in developing biological assays, including enzymatic assays, cellular assays, and in vivo pharmacology.
• Experience in target assessment, biomarker identification, and clinical development is advantageous.
• Proficiency in English is essential.
